As I updated last time, now that one refugee was provisionally released from a detention center, we purchased a fridge and it arrived here at the shelter! Now we have secured the place to stock the sheltered refugee's food, as well as the food from Food Bank for other refugees living outside of detention centers.
Thank you so so so much for supporting us and taking your time to know about the refugees in Japan!
I'm so happy to tell everyone that one detainee who has been detained for around 2 years got approved for provisional release!!!
The detainee will be released on Jan. 29th and start living in our shelter.
As I mentioned in the initial post, it was almost impossible for anyone to be provisionally released because of the Japanese refugee legislations that's been quickly getting severer over the past few years. Although there are still countless detainees who are persevering the severe and inhumane situations in their detention, this approval has a significant meaning that our constant effort and support can reach a breakthrough amid seemingly hopeless situations.
As a fridge now has become an immediate need, we still accept donations, so please help us and celebrate his victorious moment of finally winning provisional release!!
