Campaign Story
Earlier this year John was working outside up a ladder in Shortwood, Nailsworth when he suffered a heart attack and fell 20ft onto a concrete patio.
Luckily John was working for an ex-Nurse and an off duty GP was nearby who was able to give him CPR straight away saving his life. They called an ambulance and he was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol where he remained in Intensive Care for 4 weeks. During the fall John sustained life changing injuries as well as the heart attack.
John had multiple fractures in his neck and spine leaving him paralysed from the waist down. He was then transferred to Salisbury District Hospital who have a specialised Spinal unit where he is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
We are all hoping that John will be able to come home during 2018 but he will need a wheelchair to get out and about and ongoing care as well as regular physio. John is a very active person and is enthusiastic to get back to the outdoors.
Our friends, family and the community have all been fantastic support already helping raise funds towards getting the equipment and treatment that John will need once he’s home.
WE THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR DONATIONS AND SUPPORT
