NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN HAVING MEDICAL CARE AND HAVING A ROOF OVER THEIR HEAD

But this is what is happening to Dave Rieniets right now. In January of this year he was diagnosed with stage-4 colon cancer which has metastasized to the liver. His initial health insurance got terminated and now the only health insurance he can afford would require him to give up the family farm he was born on in order to qualify for coverage. He has Medicare but coverage doesn't kick in for 27 months after the time of diagnosis, which is around April 2019. By that time he could be already gone. So now my cousin and his wife are battling his cancer on their own. In doing so, they are on the brink of losing everything. All of their credit cards are maxed out, the bank won't loan them any more money. And right when they thought things couldn't get any worse – the transmission on their car went out. My cousin wants to go to Cancer Treatment Centers Of America but now they don’t have a way to get him there. According to the doctors, he should already be dead. At the time of diagnosis they only gave him a 5% chance of living past 2 years and told him he would most likely be dead in a year. He has proven them wrong so far, but every day is a struggle to keep his cancer at bay. My cousin is a fighter and if anyone can beat the odds it's going to be him. Any amount you can give will be appreciated more than any words can express, even if it's just $2 or $3 dollars. When combined, small donations add up to big help. I am literally begging everyone who is reading this.... Please, please, PLEASE help me turn this around for him.

Someday you could be the one who needs help. We need to be there for one another ♥

CEA Marker:

1/2017 38

6/2017 3.5

7/2017 2.7

11/2017 13.8 ***This number went up due to a failed surgery on August 31st, 2017 to get reconnected after his colostomy. When Dave was cut open they found small tumors about the size of quarters along the incision line from the first surgery in January 16, 2017 (This is when he found out he had cancer and they cut out an 8" chunk of intestine and performed a colostomy). After this last surgery failed to take down the colostomy and reconnect him, his oncologist and surgeon both gave him 1 year to live. Dave is still doing better than expected for his condition but he tires very easily. Now its just waiting to see what happens and we hope for him to fight this.
