Campaign Story
This campaign is an effort to help my friend Lauren afford a lawyer to represent her in the custody battle for her two daughters (my goddaughters). The attorney she is hoping to hire has a $6500 retainer and thinks the case will end up costing $10000 plus. while Lauren is of course putting as much of her own money as possible twords it, this isn’t an expense she has the means to cover on her own.
This custody battle wasn’t a fight that Lauren was looking for: She has always advocated for and supported equitable sharing of custody. However, her ex-husband is taking an aggressive tack. He’s suing, using his new wife's parent’s money, to seek full custody. Until now, Lauren’s received help from a pro bono lawyer, but family law is not his specialty. Now that things have gotten so contentious, it’s become necessary to bring on a specialist in family law who can devote the time this case now requires.
I don’t want to go into to much detail suffice to say it’s an ugly fight, and right now it’s not a fair one. Anything you can give will be a huge help.

Update posted by John Pollock at 12:39 amthank you all so much for your love, support, and encouragement. We just finally found a lawyer and thanks to your donations, we retained her! Things are slowly getting going. The case has been appointed a GAL who has been absolutely wonderful so far. We have not had any contact. . . . .
