Campaign Story
Update: Please see Campaign Update 2 for information on how to donate directly to the veterinary clinics caring for these precious kitties. Thank you for all the support we've received thus far. Lots of Love!!
On June 5th, Kisa disappeared from my parents’ house. For two months we walked and biked the neighborhood, posted flyers, posted to Facebook, frequently visited the nearby Humane Societies and followed up on many leads that were never her.
On August 5th, my mom followed a lead on a found cat that could be Kisa. As with the other leads, this kitty was not Kisa, but she was friendly and little. The person who found her could not keep her and my mom hated the thought that someone might be missing her like we missed Kisa. She took her home so she could have a safe night's sleep and a full belly. What she didn’t realize in the dark was that this kitty was very pregnant.
She was not microchipped, there were no leads on an owner and all the shelters were full. My parents decided to foster her and her kittens until an owner turned up, a shelter had an opening or they were adopted.
However, we were in for a surprise. Two days after taking in this cat we got a call that Kisa was found 12 miles away from home, still wearing her collar and severely emaciated. She was gone a total of 2 months and 2 days and we have no idea how she got so far from home. We took her directly to the emergency vet who kept her overnight. She only weighed 6 pounds (11 pounds was normal) but didn’t have any other signs of sickness or organ damage. We were thrilled to finally have her home again.
We named the pregnant kitty Karma after someone mentioned it was the good karma from taking the pregnant stray in that helped Kisa come home.
I am looking to raise funds to help pay for Kisa's recovery and the care of Karma and her kittens (the vet saw at least 4 in the ultrasound.)
Funds raised will go towards Kisa’s vet expenses related to her recovery (emergency vet visit, progress visits, bloodwork and testing for FeLV/FIV once she has regained weight.) Karma’s expenses will be for the care of her and her kittens until they are adopted (food, litter, vet visits along with their spay/neuter and vaccinations.)
Around $900.00 has already been spent on these two within the first week.
If we raise funds in excess of our needs we will donate them to a local pet organization (so many of them helped us during our search.)
My family and I appreciate all the support we received during our search for Kisa. Our hope is that our story brings hope to anyone who is missing their pet and encourages people to reach out a hand to an animal in need.

Kisa had another bout of vomiting and was taken to the vet Thursday morning, where they admitted her for the day to give IV fluids. X-Rays showed a possible blockage and her phosphorus was low which could have been due to delayed refeeding syndrome.We. . . . .
