Hello to all that may read this. I am a mum of a 5 year old little angel. My son was diagnosed with stage 5 dystonic cerebral palsy 5 years ago. He had lack of oxygen to the brain during the birthing process which resulted in extensive brain damage. Eli's limbs and trunk is affected. We recently attended a seminar on stem cell treatment for cerebral palsy and it gave us a positive outcome. There is a centre run by Dr Alok Sharma in Mumbai, India called neurogen brain and spine institute. This centre has treated over 2000 cp kids with great success. We had a one on one interview with the director and our son is a great candidate for the stem cell treatment. He guaranteed us that our son Eli will be able to stand on his own and walk even if its with an assistive device.

So what is stem cell treatment you may ask?

Stem cell treatment is where stem cells (stem cell has the ability to repair and regenerate the damaged part of the brain)are extracted via aspiration from the patients bone marrow (in this case the hip joint) and injected into the patients spine . It is injected directly into the spine so that the stem cells are carried straight to the brain. It thereafter attaches itself to the part or parts of the brain that is damaged and works at repairing the brain. Soon after all or if not most areas of the brain damage is healed and regenerated (results are seen in 3 to 6 months) .

You may ask how do they know the brain damage is completely gone?

Ct scans are taken before stem cells are recieved and directly after. Thereafter 3 or 6 months later another ct scan is conducted.

At the end of the day i don't expect my son to be cured from cp because realistically cp is a condition that no cure has been found. All we want is to give our son a better chance at life. To have a little independence and be able to live a comfortable life as he grows. He is such a happy little boy and i see the life, the determination, the strength he has and it is our duty to try this to help him achieve his potential.

The cost of the treatment is R150 000rands or 11 000us dollars and because of Elis severe brain damage he may require 2 treatments. Which will mean we will have to raise around R400 000rands (including flight expenses, post intensive rehabilitation and equipment) however I am trying to raise 200 000rands or 16000.00 dollars on gofunding and the other half doing a fundraiser/raffle.

We have to give him this chance otherwise we have failed him as his parents. I put this up here because i firmly believe whomever donates needs to read this and know the cause they are contributing towards. I do believe every individual that donates is sparing money that is hard earned. Please take the time out to read this and know that your donation towards stem cell therapy for eli carter ross will be one that is greatly appreciated and will definitely be used to benefit him. I do believe with God all things are possible and there was a reason I came to find out about this treatment, however as much as we can pray we need to have faith and with that faith we need to have an action. So thank you in advance to whomever contributes towards our journey. God bless you. Much love from my fam to yours.....#stemcelltreatmentforeli
