Hi, my name is Irene and I am the mother of Antoinette. I am creating this page in hopes of getting help and support that my daughter needs. I also want to create awareness of what Lupus Nephritis is and how it is affecting someone's body.

I know many of you are not familiar with this kind of condition. Lupus Nephritis is an inflammation of the kidney that is caused by systemic lupus erythematous or SLE. Well known as Lupus, SLE is an autoimmune disease. With lupus, the body's immune system targets its own body tissues. Lupus nephritis happens when lupus involves the kidneys.

My daughter was diagnosed with SLE in 2014. She was only 7 years old then. She's been battling Lupus for almost three years now. At first we've never had any problem. She goes to school like a normal kid. Have great grades and is top of her class. She's shy and quiet but playful around her siblings. She even participate in school programs like dancing. If you'll look at her, you'll think nothing is wrong. Without knowing her condition, she looks just like a normal kid.

No one know what she's been going through. Cause only a few people know and understand what SLE/Lupus is.

Recently, when we went to see her doctor. At that time she was not feeling well, had a really bad cough and a huge drop on her weight. The results of her urinalysis that we had then shows high amount of protein in her urine. This indicates that her Lupus is active and is attacking her kidneys. The doctor requests for another urinalysis and chest x-ray (because of her bad cough, they want to check if something is wrong with her lungs too).

A week after that we went back to see her doctor with the result of her urinalysis and chest x-ray. The urinalysis then again shows high amount of protein on her urine. So her doctor prescribe her prednisone to control her Lupus and asked for a Urine Protein Creatinine Ratio. This will confirm that she is suffering with Lupus Nephritis.

Though chest x-ray shows clear and normal lungs, you could hear her really bad cough. With some tests and skin test, they told us that she also have Bronchial Asthma. She's now under medication and is taking her maintenance daily.

Last Thursday, June 15th we went back to see her doctor with the result of her Urine Protein Creatinine Ratio. The results was very high than the normal creatinine ratio of just 0.2mg. The doctor then conclude that she is suffering with Lupus Nephritis and needs to undergo 13 sessions chemotherapy.

Upon hearing this, my world became silent as I was looking at her. She's so young for this. I never thought that there will be a time that we will go through something like this. There is a very sharp pain in my chest until now. If it could be passed on, I wish I was the one who is sick and not her. I wish I was the one who'll go through this not her. We all know the side effects of chemotherapy. That is something that I am afraid she cannot handle. But I know I have to be strong for her and I will help her out through her sessions.

The 13 sessions of chemotherapy will cost us roughly about Php 65,000 ($1300). She have other siblings that are all going to school and with her medical needs we are not sure if we can come up with that kind of amount.

Her chemo sessions will start on the 29th of June. But we have to admit we still don't have enough money for it. We are seeking for your help in hopes that we can collect funds before her sessions starts. We know it will be more challenging in the coming months but we hope we can still manage to save funds for her chemo sessions.

We are seeking for the kindness in your heart for help. Help my daughter get through this. My daughter is smart, quiet but very talented. She have dreams of becoming a chef one day.

Please help her fulfill her dreams. Help us throughout her battle with Lupus Nephritis.

A small amount will go a long way. We greatly appreciate your kindness.

June 29, 2017 - 1st Chemo SessionMarie Antoinette's first session of chemo went well. I mean really well. No nausea and vomiting episodes. She went straight to sleep when we got home. Got a little grumpy when we woke her up for dinner and went straight to sleep and I. . . . .
