My father, Ronald Reyes, is a very loving man that takes care of my two baby sisters, Reese (3 years old) and Sofia (1 year old). On the 30th of May, my dad was going about his day doing his duties as the man of the house, whilst taking care of my two baby sisters. He was crouched beneath the top bunk of our double deck bed changing Sofia's diapers. When he was about to stand straight, he banged his head on the metal framework of the bed. I've hit my head so many times on the same bed to know that it probably hurt like hell. I wasn't around to witness this since I am currently staying at a dormitory near my school. Knowing my dad, he probably just brushed off what happened like it was nothing.

The following days, my dad experienced severe headaches and several vomiting episodes. When all these became unbearable for him, he was rushed to the nearest hospital on the 3rd of June. Through the various tests he underwent, it was found that he has a brain aneurysm (a ballooning of a blood vessel) and that his head trauma led to a rupturing of a blood vessel in his brain called a hemorrhage. This was followed by the clotting of the blood known as hematoma. His condition is potentially fatal and demands immediate treatment. The doctors suggest to keep him on medication that will help with the swelling in his brain. If the medications prove ineffective, he will proceed with the operation to remove the hematoma in his brain.

His laboratory tests, extensive medications and admission in the hospital (and the potential high risk surgical procedure he may undergo) can be financially draining. Frankly, we just don't have enough money to cover his expenses. So we are in dire need of your help, to raise the funds needed to pay for his medical costs. Our family needs him. I don't know what I'd do without my dad. Any amount would be very much appreciated and we will forever be grateful for it. A little help from you would go a long way. Thank you and God Bless!

Update: Certain modifications have been made to the previous campaign description, due to the second opinion given by his new set of doctors of the hospital that my dad was transferred to. The change of hospital was the result of the unexpected unavailability of the prior hospital he was supposed to be operated in. Nonetheless, his treatments will remain very costly and may still be beyond what we can shoulder. We apologize for the sudden change. We will give an update regarding the probable operation. Again, thank you for the outpouring support!

Update 2: He was successfully operated on the 16th of June due to the pressure build up on his brain. More information in the update tab.

Successful Burr Hole Craniotomy

Update posted by Naomi Deirdre Reyes at 01:23 am

On the evening of the 16th of June, he has undergone a burr hole craniotomy to drain the excess fluids that developed on the left side of his brain (the darker grey part on the right side of the photo) caused by the subdural hematoma. The fluids increased the pressure. . . . .
