As announced on my social media profiles, I've been admitted to Spain's most prestigious law school, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. A young school, UC3M ranks worldwide as one of the top universities under 50 years old.

At UC3M, I'll study under a program dedicated to a nascent field of law I'd like to help develop: science and innovation law. This field combines a number of related disciplines, such as intellectual property and patent law, towards the promotion of science, technology, and engineering development.

Currently, major law firms in Spain and all over Europe are developing their capabilities to serve STEM-related clients. As the European Union and the EU Member States are projected to create a large number of employments for science, technology, and engineering fields over the next two decades, I believe there is a strong need for lawyers, particularly boutique lawyers, who can handle patent litigation, research consulting, and academic research self-sufficiency consulting. As a biological chemist and as a heck of a legal mind — if I do say so myself — I believe I can make a market for myself in this field.

After a year of painful, life-changing experiences and, more importantly, after nearly three years of rebuilding, I'm now ready to start my journey into a new and promising future.

I'm working hard to put together funds of my own to pay my first year tuition (which will be the highest tuition — subsequent years will be much less costly). I've already paid a 300€ deposit on my tuition and have set aside an additional 500€ in credit. I'm also taking on additional students through the summer in order to raise additional funds. Despite these efforts, there is no way I can reach the more than 6000€ (more than approximately $6700 USD) without help.

It would be extremely meaningful to me if you could help me on my way to becoming a European science and innovation attorney. Please consider making as big a donation as you're comfortable making, or donating a smaller amount a few times before the fundraising deadline. Even if we don't reach the fundraising goal, any and all contributions will help, as I'll be obtaining a 10-month bank loan for the difference.

I will be sending "thank you" gifts to contributors based on the schedule provided.

Thanks!
