Ryan’s Physical Rehab (EDS)

Ryan has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and has daily struggles with his body, including issues with his heart rate, bladder function and bowel function. He has hypermobile joints and his muscles are weak and getting weaker, especially in his hips and back. Ryan is already on a cardiology care plan to ensure his heart functions well and he has regular check ups but he is now in need of physical rehabilitation to strengthen his body so he will still be able to walk in the future and his organs can function in the future. He is starting treatment on October 2nd at Great Ormond Street Hospital for children. This is highly specialised treatment with amazing results in other children facing similar challenges. The NHS waiting list is too long and our Private Insurance don't fund this treatment so this needs to be self funded. The money raised will pay for treatment and aids and associated costs needed to keep Ryan mobile and functioning in the future. Inactivity has a major impact on how his heart and other organs function. Starting Treatment whilst he is young will be extremely beneficial. Most children start to deteriorate between the ages of 9 and 11 and Ryan is 9 now. Thank you for your support.
