About us :
We are a young couple, both art students from two different countries : Athens’ School of Fine Arts, Greece, and Ecole des Beaux Arts of Tourcoing, France. Unpredictably, two years ago during my ERASMUS, we met in a greek island. We would almost have never met since the day of her arrival was the day of my departure. We fell in love with each other, but our studies keep us separate. We’re living a long distance relationship since then, which means, many hours on skype, expensive calls, and plane tickets as often as we can :)
About the Road Trip :
Through this trip we want to put an end to this distance creatively and share the experience of long travelling, something we were not able to do until now. Even if the destination is the reason of our journey, we believe that the way to get there is really important too, as the greek poet Constantin Cavafy wrote : "hope the voyage is a long one, full of adventure, full of discovery"…
We’re gonna start our trip beginning of July 2017 from Lille, in France, pass through Swiss, Italy, and finally take the boat to Greece ; passing through huge cities as well as small villages, mountains and pretty landscapes, visiting museums and exploring art we’ve never seen before !
Our goal is to use our knowledge and skills in drawing, engraving and photography to create artworks from our experiences and memories from our travel. We believe that everything we come forward to can enrich and inspire our work.
While trying to keep the budget as low as possible, we’re planning on doing mostly couch surfing and camping all along the way. This is going to be an opportunity to meet new people and share different experiences with each other.
About the Car :
We found a car getting older in a shed : didn’t take the road since a long time, flat tyre, dead battery, few kilometers. I’m learning slowly slowly how to fix basics stuff with my father, go through a technical control and be ready for the trip. The car is actually running great, I’ve driven 20 000 km since the last two years. But because it’s still an old car and because we have to make around 3 500 to 4 000 km, we’re planning to take at least two weeks on the road.
The funding amount goes for gazoline, boat ticket, handcraft and printing expenses.
In return, we want to share with you important memories, pictures, drawings and engravings from our adventure !
