Rachel and Julie Cycle for Zambia

£1,645.00raised of £1,500.00 goal goal
On the 30th May 2017 Rachel and Julie will cycle 300 km around Southern Switzerland to raise money for an educational project in Zambia.
This four-day adventure will take us around Lac Leman and into the Valais region (see the map images for our route).
We are raising money for an education project supported by the International School of Geneva and run by a Zambian non-profit organisation: the Zambezi Educational and Environmental Camps (ZEEC).
The project helps three Primary schools (Sankandi, Kabula and Nakabunze Basic Schools) and one High School (Sioma High School) in the Lozi region of the Western Province of Zambia, one of the poorest regions in the country. The money we raise will go directly to paying for much-needed equipment and supplies for the schools.
If we had done any training this cycle might seem an easy task, but a little thing called a 'teacher training qualification' has kept us so busy this year we've not had time to do any meaningful practice. The cycle-geeks among you will be able to follow us on Strava.
Any donation is gratefully accepted. You can sponsor us in £ through Paypal on this site, or if you want to pay in CHF you can pay us in person or email us for bank details ([email protected] or [email protected]).
We will pay the 4% charged by this website for hosting our donation page into the fund so none of your donation is wasted.
We really appreciate anything you can give... thank you.
Rachel & Julie xx

Well done, I'm in awe!
We did it!
Update posted by Julie Davison at 07:34 pmBy Friday morning we had done more kilometres than anticipated, so decided to set ourselves a challenge of more undulating terrain for our last day. We set off from Rachel's home village of Echandens and headed up towards the Jura. Yes, there was a lot of up! Despite plenty of
Days 2 and 3
Update posted by Julie Davison at 07:26 amDay 2 started well with a visit to Freddie in Montreux, followed by crazy drivers on the road to Evian. We considered the boat back to Lausanne but decided to push on (in Julie's terms) and retrace our route (still with crazy drivers) back to Villeneuve. A hard day, but. . . . .
Day 1
Update posted by Julie Davison at 06:58 pmWhat a day! We arrived in Geneva earlier than expected so decided to push on to cover more ground before tomorrow's storm arrives. All went well until the last 20 kilometres.. we ended up on a dual-carriageway, Julie came over all faint (until she ate cake) and Rach flew over
Uping the stakes
