Hello Sweet Friends!
It appears there is a pup in an animal shelter who is pulling on my heart strings.
This little guy just so happens to be in Iran!
His name is Whiskey, and he has quite the past already, even at his young age.
Whiskey was chased down an alley by two teenage boys, who trapped him and attempted to cut off his tail and were also planning to cut off his ears, for no particular reason. They had already made a large cut on his tail when a kind person intervened and took Whiskey from the boys and to an animal shelter, where he hopefully awaits a home.
Last June, my beloved dog, Lil'n, was run over by a car and killed right in front of me. This past year has been one of healing on more levels than one, and I told myself it would be good to wait at least one year before welcoming another dog friend into my life. While, it has not quite yet been one year, I feel that sometimes, we must recognize when an opportunity is presenting itself especially for us! This little guy is speaking to me, and I hope to be able to provide him with a good life.
The irony is not lost on me here, while looking online at a database of animal shelters into which I type my postal code, and it lists all the animals in shelters beginning with the ones closest to you......and of course, I, somehow, end up drawn to a dog who happens to be in Iran! His situation is dire though, as Sharia Law forbids people from keeping dogs as pets, many animals are suffering immensely as a result.
The cost of his adoption is $500 which includes the cost of his flight to Vancouver. I am hoping to raise $1000 to help cover his adoption costs, as well as the cost of a preliminary vet visit upon arriving in Canada. Funds raised will also help cover travel costs to Vancouver to pick him up, and bring him back home to Tofino.

Welcome home Savanna and good luck! I encouraged my friend Erin McMullan to pursue her dream of acquiring a rescue dog from California almost a year after her dog died and am so happy to see you pursuing a similar dream! Good for you! Looking forward to meeting Whiskey. I am loving being with two wonderful dogs at my friend's house in North Vancouver and now more fully appreciate how great it is to have a dog in one's life.
