Hello You,
We have this amazing friend that goes by the name Joyce Quezada. She is a 29 year old, amazing mother to an adorable boy, Joaquin. Like the superwomen of modern days, she works double than most of us. Being a single parent is never easy. She does relatively well though with everyday life and theirs bear a lot of resemblance to our ordinaries.
She lives by her name --- with all the joy to every friend. She's spirited and very compassionate. She's the kind who'd do this same gesture to anyone of us.
What really happened?...
The symptoms began to be noticeable sometime in late 2016. She's having moments that left her “spaced out” for several minutes. Headaches became more noticeable and grew more frequent. Sometimes she'd experience slurring of speech and unable to organise her thoughts. Said she will try to find time to have it checked. She did, but maybe a little too late.
It was February 5 during a meal with her family when the first seizure attack happened. Her sister, Janelle told us how they saw Joyce downed with the aura; murmuring words, stiffening of her extremities and rolling of her eyeballs. She was immediately taken to the nearest Emergency Room to where a second seizure episode occurred. CT scan showed an abnormality on the left side of her brain. It revealed Intracranial tumor and immediate surgery was needed.
The family was given the option to transfer to a government hospital to lessen the financial obligation in doing the surgery. February 8, three days after her first admission, she was transferred to a government hospital most capable of managing her condition to where she's immediately scheduled for surgery the nest day.
The first surgery on February 9 already brought good news. Majority of the tumor, which has taken up 1/4 part of her brain, has been removed. The doctors are looking into the option of her undergoing chemotherapy for the tumor fragments remaining.
Further examinations revealed the need for a second surgery. On Valentine's Day, February 14, Joyce underwent the second and final brain surgery. Her long time desire of having her head shaved was made true by the medical team. She still looks as beautiful and thankfully the surgery was once again a success.
God has taken a lot of worry out of her family's mind. Slow isn't Joyce. She's already smiling and giggling a timidly to jokes. Though she misses a lot of names and a little late on the uptake, she's been showing tremendous spirit to recovery.
Yet, the truth of surviving all these requires huge amount of money to settle the medical bills and prepare for her rehabilitation. We hope to tell her that we have the means to settle her hospital bills.
We hope to tell her that thru this campaign, we not only receive monetary donations but most importantly, the sincere prayers from warm hearts like you. We hope to tell her that we reached the right people that will help her on her new journey. We hope to tell her that she doesn't need to worry about Joaquin alone.
We hope to tell her that "Joyce, everyone is here for you, even people you don’t know." We hope to tell her that once she gets up and she can do Facebook, a lot of people are waiting for her first live "Hi."
