Helping Dad get his new hip

Our dad Greg Seymour is a one in a million kinda man. If you have met him you will know what we talking about. The man would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He has risen out of some really terrible life changing events in his life.

At the tender age of 13, dad, his mommy, daddy, little sister and a friend were on their way back from a family Christmas. In one horrible moment his life as he knew it was over. A head on collision took away his mommy, daddy and little sister. His friend and he the only survivors. A mangled little boy woke in hospital unaware he lost his family. Long metal pins in his thighs to keep his broken bones together. The droctors wanted to amputate his arms but one doctor decided to try save them. He did. A long rehabilitation and a wheel chair for his first year of high school. He rose. Fighting the odds, dad strengthened himself and received a gold medal at SA champs for rowing

He married and had 4 daughters. A kind and loving father, who to this day will help and be there for you no matter what. Another tragedy struck in 2001, at the age of 46, He fell from a scaffolding structure and damaged his ankle. Developing diabetes, the wound would not heal, it went to the bone. They had to amputate. The look on our father's face when we walked into his hospital room was one we will never forget. A smile for us masking a mixture of terror and uncertainty. Another long road to recovery and learning to walk all over again. With the help and support of his family he walked again. He danced at our wedding's like he had two perfect legs.

Through all this you would think he would be a bitter, hard man, just the opposite. He is the most loving father, grandad and husband anyone could wish for. With all the pressure and trauma he has had on his legs and hips, dad's hip has totally disintegrated and he needs to have a replacement done ASAP. His medical aid will not cover ANY of the expenses and the cost is astronomical. They have given us an estimate for the doctor, hospital and physio and its around R170 000, as a family we would be forever grateful for any assistance in the form of donations to get Dad his new hip.
