Don’t let our dogs become medically neglected or homeless, please!

As some of you may know, the situation here in Serbia is not easy at all. Low living standard does too affect our furry friends. Lots of our best friends often suffer needlessly or they`ve been medically neglected because their owners who are on low or no income, cannot afford expensive unexpected surgery or medical treatment. Across the Serbia, owners of sick or injured pets are experiencing the fear of losing their closest friend. We created Vet Pet Care charity to provide vital life-saving treatment to pets when their owners simply can’t afford to. Pets are part of the family. Our four-legged friends give unconditional love and are often a person’s only companion. They don’t deserve to suffer through economic and social hardship. They can’t help themselves. But we can – with your help . Together with Pet Vet Care Clinic (www.petvetcare.rs) we created Vet Pet Care charity to provide veterinarians with a simple and effective way to offer charitable veterinary services to clients facing personal hardships as well as animals rescued from abuse and neglect. Enrolled veterinary hospitals now have a way to offer low or no-cost services to clients who may otherwise be forced to surrender or euthanize their beloved pets. Unfortunately as numbers of cases where the owners are unable to pay for necessary veterinary care is increasing, therefore we are less able to help them all without your help. We continue to operate in a tough financial environment, so we need your help on this. As we only rely heavily on contributions in the form of private donations of generous friends, family and individuals - and out of our own pockets, we are limited funding so we are able to take in and provide for only a limited number of pets at any given time - determined on a "case by case" basis. Remember they only have us, and if we don't help them their animals will be in pain .

At the moment, we are raising fund that can keep us going in providing vital life-saving treatment to pets when their owners simply can’t afford to, which Chupa is one of. He was one in a million unwanted strays on Serbian streets, until he met her. It was love at first sight. She couldn`t leave him on the street, so she brought Chupa with her and offer him forever home. She loves him to bits and is able to provide basic care(food, vacc. deworming) that Chupa needs. Unfortunately being on low income, she isn`t in the situation to neuter him (her total monthly income, can barley cover the cost of neutering..) , so one day Chupa jumped over the fence running for a female, like they always do if not neuter.. He ended up on the very busy highway hit by a track, badly injured, with broken pelvis and leg. The owner brought Chupa to two different veterinary practice but not being able to cover the amount (both vets ask for 450eur), they`ve been turned down and advice to put dog a sleep...they did not even provide basic pain free therapy to at least ease the pain.... The owners income is only 100 euros per month! She was devastated and couldn't accept the info that she will need to say goodbye to him because money are the only thing standing between her and Chupa. Not knowing what to do, and not wanting to put him down, Chupa stayed in that condition for a several days until his owners luckily heard and reached to us for help as no one before wanted to do so. We now are reaching out for your help. To proof the low income, we ask Chupa`s owner to provide the statement, which she did and she still participate with 25 euros towards the total.

Chup had the surgery done at Pet Vet Care clinic with maximum discount they could offer to only cover some of the costs for material. They performed an ultrasound and x-rays at no charge, his stay at the clinic and food provided while in clinic at no charge. Pelvis wasn't done as he is a young dog and the fracture nature is that it can heal its self over a period of time. Chupa was provided with all the necessary care. Complete blood work was done, test on hartworm, x-rays are done, ultrasound test, leg surgery is done, pain free therapy and Chupa stayed at the clinic for next several days on monitoring and necessary therapy. He is back home now successfully recovering and will have another surgery in a couple of weeks to remove the pins from leg. Once he fully recovers he will also be neutered at Pet Vet Care Clinic, so we can avoid situation like this in future. Having that done, we are also working on decreasing numbers of strays out on the streets.

At the moment we urgently need funds (300 euros) to help towards Chupa`s total. (2 surgeries, therapy, diagnostic tests, neutering) Any amount above this will be used towards next er. case`s which we already have.. Regular updates, photos and additional treatment details will be shared routinely. We cannot do all of this without your help.
