Campaigning to fund for Mimo's surgery - Fractured Front Leg

Mimo is more than a dog to us, she's a precious family member. Mimo is our 6+ year old shih tzu, adopted when she was around a year old from a lady who had become too ill to care for her dogs.

On a trip back to Taiwan to visit our ill grandmother, we left Mimo in our relative's care. Unfortunately, we came back to upsetting news that our dog has difficulty in walking. We then discovered that on the 30th of December, despite having window grilles, Mimo slipped through the gaps and fell from the second storey of a HDB flat.

We visited a vet and a X-ray showed a complete fracture in her right front leg. Unlike usual fractures where a part of the bone is broken cleanly, part of the bone connecting to the joint was also compromised. In a common fracture, casting or operation are the two options available. However, in the case of Mimo, casting was not advised.

Due to Mimo’s location of fracture, where the fracture is at the joint, the eventual fusing of the two adjacent bones would mean immobility in that arm. She would then not be unable to run and jump around properly.

This leaves us with the only option which is surgery. This requires an operation which involves surgically inserting metal plates/screw to join and stabilise the bones internally. Due to the complicated nature of Mimo’s fracture, it would require a specialist to perform the operation which is estimated to cost us around 7K SGD.

Occasional medical fees are still manageable but the cost of this operation is well beyond our financial means. Paying for the operation and subsequent visits to the specialist would be financially impossible in such a short timeframe.

As Mimo was adopted based on a collective decision in the family, we, the daughters, are trying our best to raise funds to lighten our mother’s financial load. We are appealing for funds that will go towards Mimo's surgery. Any amount donated, no matter how big or small is sincerely appreciated. It fills us with warmth to know that there are others who will help Mimo.

With a grateful heart, we thank you for spending time to visit the page and your kind donations,

Agnes (24), Emily(18) & Annie(12).

*We have been referred to Landon Specialist Vet and we will know the full details when we consult with them on Monday morning. We will be updating the page to keep you informed of the progress.

PS. Should there be leftover funds, all the proceedings will go towards another similar campaign
