Charles managed quite well, living life even for the past 10+ years he suffered from Lung challenges that had him on 24/7 oxygen and diabetes. Unfortunately most recently his diabetes, and diminished heart and lung functions became debilitating. It was early Christmas morning that he passed, with his family by his side.

Charles was born in Westbank, schooled in Penticton and comes from an Okanogan family of tree farmers; fruit and nuts, The City of Kelowna named a street after his father 'Butt Road' for his contribution to the community.

Shortly after getting married at 18 his and his wife and 1st daughter moved to Vancouver.Charles worked in blacktop/asphalt for many years, before opening a company of new household driveways. He originated the design for the turnaround which enabled a small and awkward driveways a means for cars to turn around.

He loved spending holidays, birthdays and time with his family.Charles was a dependable man who you could call at 4 am for a ride home, and he’d be there.

In his later years, he loved browsing through Coquitlam Value Village, loved to chat with strangers, and have lunch and coffee at Tim Hortons.

Charles is predeceased by his father Charles, mother Elizabeth, brother Billy, son Charles Jr,Survived by his loving wife Joan of 55 years, daughters Cilica,Pamela and Victoria, six loving grandchildren, his sister Clara and Corina, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

  • He was so helpful as a neighbour. Charles looked out for our place when we were on vacation. I will really miss his sense of humour. God Bless.
