Campaign Story
Dear Friends,
In late-April 2015, I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure caused by myocarditis. A seemingly harmless flu virus that gave me pneumonia in January 2015 had gone on to infect my heart, causing inflammation of my heart muscles that over a couple of months, led to Congestive Heart Failure. Never have I ever imagine that I would be so ill with a serious heart condition when I'm only in my 30s.
Apart from my heart condition, I also suffer from chronic endocrinological problems and an awful neck injury that requires regular treatment. These medical problems precede my heart condition. So, prior to April 2015, I have already been spending most of my income on medical bills. I suffered a bad neck whiplash injury pursuant to a hit-and-run road accident in 2012 and since then, I have undergone 3 rounds of a procedure known as "Radiofrequency Denervation". Essentially, the procedure involves burning off of the nerves at my cervical facet joints that are inflamed and causing me severe pain. As it is a chronic neck injury, I've needed regular treatment including physiotherapy, daily medication, and follow-up. To-date, I have already spent some $60,000 on my neck injury treatment. I am currently still awaiting the outcome of a claim (against the Motor Insurer's Bureau) arising out the accident. During my last consultation with my doctor a few months ago, he strongly advised that I undergo another round of the Radiofrequency Denervation procedure to help manage my agonising neck pain. That is likely to costs around S$10,000. I have been putting it off due to financial difficulties. It has been very difficult managing the costs involved in relation to my various medical problems.
As mentioned above, I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure in April 2015. When I was first diagnosed, my heart function was extremely weak with an "EF" (Ejection Fraction) of 25% (lowest level), causing serious symptoms such as severe shortness of breath, accumulation of fluid in my lungs, abdomen, other organs, and my legs. Basically, my heart muscles had weakened so much, my heart couldn't pump efficiently. I could hardly walk 10 steps without stopping to regain my breath. Throughout 2015 and 2016, I was hospitalised multiple times. That, of course, translates to multiple hospital bills, some of which are still unpaid.I will need to continue with treatment for at least another year.
With my current heart condition, I have not been able to work and I have exhausted all my savings.
It has been an exasperating time for me with many lows. I will be extremely grateful for every cent donated towards my medical fund that I hope will help me receive the medical treatment I need. I will also be grateful if you can pray for me - that I will soon fully recover from my heart condition.
Thank you!
