Born on November 1, 2016, at 34 weeks 5 days, weighing 1.76kg, Sky is currently at the neonatal intensive care unit of a hospital in Manila. She was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital heart defect which necessitates immediate care and rigorous medical attention. According to the doctors, this condition can only be corrected through surgery.
Sky is the first one to be born alive to her mother after three unsuccessful pregnancies in the span of 10 years of marriage. It was on the third pregnancy that Sky's mother was diagnosed with Anti-Phospolipid Antibody Syndrome (APAS), with high levels of natural killer cells , and Leukocyte antibody negative crossmatch.
The entire duration of pregnancy was a challenging journey for Sky and her mother, who had to undergo several treatments and therapies to sustain her and keep her alive in the womb. Her parents practically spent a fortune just to ensure her safety, with much anticipation that they would soon behold their much awaited child.
Way ahead of schedule, the mother was admitted to the High Risk Pregnancy Unit of SLMC-GC to have an emergency C-section because the baby showed poor heartbeat and the mother has preeclampsia and APAS complications threatening her life and the baby’s. By the grace of God, Sky was born.
While Sky's condition has stabilized, she still needs continuous medical attention and proper care to address prematurity and gastric bleeding caused by very low platelet count & clotting abnormalities.
As of this writing, her hospital bill has mounted. The family is in dire need financially because they have exhausted their resources during the course of pregnancy and they did not expect that Sky would have this condition.
That being said, we would like to reach out to your good hearts for any amount that could help us pay Sky's hospital bills, which keep on mounting as days go by.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Please pray with us for Sky's healing and fast recovery.

A Mother's Heart
Update posted by Joanne Sendon Palad at 09:43 amSky, like any other babies, cry whenever she's hungry, needs a nappy change or in pain. And we, being not yet used to seeing her color's drastic change, really panic in fear. I'm not sure if we'll ever get used to it. I just know that this whole experience will. . . . .
Good stats!
Update posted by Joanne Sendon Palad at 08:44 amSky was just weaned from her high flow oxygen today! Our prayer is that soon she'll be completely weaned from her low-flow oxygen, and that she will fully tolerate her feeding, so that she can finally go home with us!To know if she's ready for weaning, the doctor will try. . . . .

Testimonies
Update posted by Joanne Sendon Palad at 09:33 amAlthough we catch ourselves hopeless at times, especially with the recent happenings, we thank God that He used people to remind us that He is still in control. After the doctors discovered that Sky had a high level of infection causing her heart rate and oxygen level to drop, it's still. . . . .
Sky's first 17 days on earth.
Update posted by Joanne Sendon Palad at 05:36 amThe first 17 days since Sky was born was spent in the hospital. This is the same hospital where she was born and thereby receiving treatments, having diagnosed with congenital heart defect and persistently low platelet count. Her doctors have explored all possibilities that may have caused it. Another round. . . . .
