Help Noks Train as a Yoga Teacher

My name is Nokuphiwo Jada, I work for an organisation called Earthchildproject in Cape Town South Africa as a project coordinator for our schools programme. Teaching yoga to children in Primary Schools is a large part of my duty. From Monday to Thursday I teach about 700 kids between the ages of 7 and 13 years old. The transformation and visible difference in the children I have worked with over the past 10 years has resulted in many invitations to teach yoga classes to teachers, parents, youth, nurses etc. Up until now I have not had the opportunity to complete my yoga teachers training, but due to demand from the community I am running an informal yoga class for school teachers.

It took me 10 years of my practice and teaching children yoga to say YES to myself. For a long time I felt very uncomfortable being in a yoga studio. I had a lot of insecurities about my body thinking that my body was not good enough for yoga. To an extent that I even hide myself at the back every day when I go to a class. But the interesting part is that I’m totally comfortable with the kids. I started having conversations with other yogis to find out I was not the only one who felt that way. I decided to go do my yoga teacher training not only for myself but for people who consider themselves over weight and +size.

When I took that decision the opportunity was there waiting for me. A few months ago I received an invitation to do my yoga teacher training sponsored by the Passion yoga school in Costa Rica. In order to take advantage of this gift I need to raise funds of $5000 to cover travel, accommodation and food.

With your support and as an active member of my community, on completing my yoga teacher training I’m really looking forward to making a meaningful difference by teaching in schools, churches, youth groups, old age homes and in the community at large.
