Campaign Story
Meet Amy. She’s an amazing single mother of three, a loving sister, a reliable friend and a caring daughter. She was active with a bubbly personality.
But starting the second quarter of 2016, she was taken ill. The doctors weren’t able to diagnose her properly and told her it was just a high blood pressure. Within 2 weeks her weight fluctuated drastically, then my Mom suggested she get a brain scan. Lacking the money to get this costly test, my sister had to wait until we raised sufficient funds for a MRI scan, only then we found out that she has brain tumor and needs surgery asap. The doctor told us to prepare Php 400,000 for the surgery and doctors fees and an additional Php 100,000 for the hospital bills.
Since the family doesn’t have the funds for the surgery we decided to take her to the public hospital (Philippine General Hospital), and sadly from there her condition started getting worse. After 2 weeks of waiting to get scheduled for the surgery, she caught stage 2 pneumonia as the patients share one nebulizer inside a charity room of 28 patients. They had to put her into the ICU and perform a tracheotomy (incision on the neck for a tube to be placed to help her breathe and clear the airway of phlegm).
Due to this added complication the doctors could not proceed with the surgery. After a month in the hospital they asked us to take her home and bring her back when her lungs had cleared. She was then taken to another hospital after she almost fell into coma. After 2 more weeks in the ICU her lungs have cleared just enough to have the surgery done. We went back to PGH and the doctors there decided not to take her unless we pay Php 150,000 down payment to get the surgery done straight away. Thanks to a good friend of my Mom she made a call to another hospital and they accepted my sister with only a promissory note.
It’s been 4 months now since my sister has been hospitalized; our whole family is now empty handed and we now plea for financial help to be used for my sister’s surgery, medical, hospital bills and therapy. If you can find it in yourself to give anything our family would be eternally grateful. I thank you in advance for any assistance you decide to offer, and please pray for her!
