Master of Arts in Education – University of Exeter

Hello and welcome to my fundraiser!

Thanks for dropping by. I am trying to raise money to study a Master of Arts in Education (Online Programme) through the University of Exeter in the UK.

The focus of my study will be barriers to learning with literacy and comprehension in early high school years. My vision is to develop a model that will mitigate and resolve many of the literacy and comprehension barriers teachers see in pupils in the classroom. Often times, these students simple need to be taught in a slightly different way, or be allowed to learn at a slightly slower pace. But traditional education does not always have capacity for that. As a high school English teacher, I am often faced with the question: How do I create extension activities for those who excel at English while at the same time creating scaffolding activities for those who need extra help and also maintain good classroom management and make sure no child feels left behind or forgotten? It is an overwhelming task. I believe that introducing a literacy and comprehension model for pupils who have barriers in these areas will greatly improve the child's ability to cope in English and other subjects, and will improve the child's confidence. A colleague aptly said to me that "We have to use our lives to impact our world!" There is no better way to impact our world than be equipping and training up the next generation.
