£115.00Donated So Far
I'm well aware this is the section where I am meant to tell you all about myself, and why I deserve for you to hand over your hard-earned money to help me make it stateside, where I dream of embarking on a 19 day road trip visiting some national parks and points-of-interest in between. I am also aware that I could tell you anything, absolutely anything, and you would be none-the-wiser as to whether I am being truthful with you, or not (I sadly once donated some money to someone whose story I had read which had touched me immensely, to then find out they had lied about everything and were in fact nothing more than con artists).
I've visited fundraising sites (many of them whilst trying to find ones I believe could help me to achieve a dream) and have come across people who are claiming they need money because of this, that, and the other, when in fact they they are just pulling-a-fast-one - a quick bit of "social media stalking" is definitely worth your while if you're thinking of donating to anyone (myself included). Thankfully, the charlatans are very few-and-far-between, but they are still out there, preying on the kindness of others. Because of 'those' people I'm not going to sit here and tell you about my life or what has got me to the point where I feel brave enough to ask complete strangers to help me achieve a dream. Instead, I'm going to let you make your own minds up about me. Your help will be appreciated more than you could ever imagine, however, I know there are people out there who are far more deserving than I am, which is why I don't want to do (or say) anything to influence you one way or the other; it is purely down to you. Of course, I'd love for you to help me, that goes without saying. Furthermore, I do not pay anyone to advertise me or my cause; not only does it cost a lot of money to do so, I believe in putting in the legwork myself. Aside from the admin fees this site charges, not a penny of the money you are kind enough to donate will be spent on advertising charges (or anything else - it will all go towards the trip).
I can be found on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,Tumblr, Google+ and Snapchat; I also run my own blog; you are free to look me up on any of those to learn what you feel you need to know about me. All the links you need are listed on my donation page.
You will see, if you look me up, that I would dearly love to take my niece and nephew with me; now, theres is a story to be told (heartbreakingly sad) but it is their story to share, not mine, so while I could use it to tug on your heartstrings, I don't have the right to use them for my gain, although you will see them appear in my blog entries, and past updates.
All of the money I receive will go towards the trip (costings have been worked on the basics for everything - budget motels, cheap hire car, and food will come from supermarkets). More money than needed would get us a comfier bed, or bigger car so we’re not cramped.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate in asking them.

Fund Raising
Update posted by Sarah Bradbury at 01:30 pm"Don't put all your eggs in one basket" is quite an appropriate saying right now, considering it's Easter and all that :) Due to other efforts not working quite as well as they could have been, I've branched out in another direction. As that awful supermarket says "Every little helps" http://www.fundmyholiday.uk/2018/03/anything-to-he...
Happy New Year
Update posted by Sarah Bradbury at 12:29 pmI wanted to wish you all a very Happy New Year - a bit late in the month, I know, but things have been all over the place, as those of you who have ever lost a beloved pet will understand. My Mum is still struggling to deal with her. . . . .
On hold
Update posted by Sarah Bradbury at 12:31 pmAs some of you may know on the 18th last month my dog was taken poorly so I put everything to do with this on hold (thank you to those of you who have been kind enough to message me to see how she is doing; it means the world. . . . .
Over 10% of the way
Update posted by Sarah Bradbury at 01:03 pmRather than sitting back, hoping (always hoping) someone is going to come across this and be kind enough to donate the whole amount in one go (you've no idea how amazing that would be) I've also been doing my bit and have been selling off stuff I no longer need. . . . .
Results time
Update posted by Sarah Bradbury at 10:28 amI finally got the results of my mammogram back today - after hearing the last words the radiographer said to me about being "definitely called back" where she proceeded to make out there was a problem (and because I'd found the lump earlier in the year) I can't tell you. . . . .
Mammogram
Update posted by Sarah Bradbury at 03:15 pmYesterday I had my first mammogram - I got called in as they are now triailing women under 50 and because I went to my doctors earlier in the year with a lump I was put forward for the early screening. It's not nice, it's extremely painful, but if it. . . . .
Discouraged?
Update posted by Sarah Bradbury at 11:04 amSomeone asked me over the weekend if I find it discouraging that I'm not raising the funds as quickly as they seem to believe I should be. My answer was a simple "no". I don't have many friends (I choose to have fewer proper friends than hundreds of acquaintances" and. . . . .
The currency exchange rate
Update posted by Sarah Bradbury at 08:02 amWhen I planned my route and worked out my budget I did so remembering that the exchange rate can fluctuate on a daily basis (by quite a bit at times) so when working on my figures I bore this in mind and worked everything out on a worst-case-scenario exchange rate.. . . . .
Do you want to make a memory?
Update posted by Sarah Bradbury at 10:05 amBeing organised and preparing for the trip (I know we will find our way there - hopefully thanks to some of you lovely/kind people :) ) I've written a guidebook for the kids to take along/use when we travel. I've just been asked "Why?" Here's my answer..... different to ours.
Back on track
Update posted by Sarah Bradbury at 06:46 pmWhether you agree with my reasons for this fundraiser (or not) I will not quit until I achieve my goal.
