Help Savannah get to Germany

My name is Savannah Von Graevenitz. I am 17 years old, in Grade 11 and I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. A few months ago an exchange student program to Germany was announced in my school’s assembly and it immediately sparked my interest for it has been one of my school goals to be an exchange student and of course Germany sounded like an amazing place to go and experience.

I preached the idea to my mom, Katie Von Graevenitz, who supported it straight away. I sent my application through, completed three compulsory assignments and on the 30^th of August I got an email saying that I was going to be a part of the 2016 Germany exchange student program. I am beyond excited.

However my family is not financially able to sponsor my trip to Germany. The cost is about R40 000 (€2500) for me to go, this includes the program costs, flight expenses, VISA costs and clothes that I will need to get to survive the freezing cold of Germany’s winter. I am raising money in other ways such as selling at flea markets and having a Spur Charity evening.

All of the money that is donated over and above what I need will be given to Leigh Faulkner who is a family friend that was in a car accident that left her paralysed in 2014. The fact that I have the opportunity to go and experience Germany is still so surreal to me. I am so grateful to anyone that helps me achieve my goal.
