Has anyone ever been told that someone they know and love has cancer? It's like being hit in the stomach from close range by a tonne of bricks! Everyone's scared of the 'C' word but I'm sure loads of you know someone who has had to face it!! When you were told did you sit there and think to yourself... What the hell do I say? How/why has this happened? What can I do to help? Well that was me back in 2012 and now I've just had to ask myself all those questions all over again but this time it's different...

My sister in law Lisa was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. After helping her mum through the same disease the year before, it was Lisa's time to fight back. But this wasn't just any fight, Lisa was 4 months pregnant with a much wanted little boy at the time of being diagnosed!! For those who have had kids, being pregnant can be tough enough as it is, let alone trying to ride the waves of chemo and all that comes with it at the same time!! But Lisa fought back and with the greatest amount of strength and courage I have known from anyone!!

Life was starting to get back to normal. Lisa was given the all clear and the family moved home and relocated to Devon to start afresh down by the sea. The children were settling in and Sam, their precious little boy, was thriving.

However, all this was cut short when my brother was involved in a potentially life threatening lorry crash. Thankfully he survived and came away with only a couple of minor physical injuries. But the long term mental injuries have been ongoing. It was now my brothers turn to go through a battle, the very tough battle of PTS (post traumatic stress).

He was making great progress and had even started working again. Lisa was continuing to do well, and the whole family had adjusted again to 'normal' life.

But cruel fate decided to throw another blow their way....Lisa's beloved Dad was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour and underwent life saving surgery to remove the mass from his brain. It was an extremely nerve racking time for all the family, no one knowing the outcome. Thankfully it was a great success, the mass was removed and he is now doing really well and fighting hard against the disease.

Now to this point you may think surely this family have been through enough...surely they are due some good luck....but it would seem not. Yet another devastating blow has been dealt to this family.....

Lisa's cancer has returned. This time it's secondary cancer of the liver and the doctors are unable to treat it this time. For Lisa, her 4 children, her loving husband and for so many of her good friends, this is totally, unbelievably, ridiculously so unfair, and it breaks my heart that they have to go through this!!

Lisa doesn't want pity. She doesn't want any sympathy. She just wants everyone to continue to treat her exactly the same as they were before. She wants to live life to the best she can and make some amazing memories with the time she has left.

So here's the deal... I, like I'm sure a lot of you feel, want to do something for this family. It's tough to help out when you don't know what to do, or live too far away to be useful, so I have a plan....

Lisa's life long dream has been to visit USA. To go see all the amazing (some a little random if I'm honest) things that that country has to offer. So let's try to raise enough money to send Lisa off on a once in a lifetime magical trip of America. What do you think?? Any donation big or small will make a huge difference to Lisa & her family's life'

SO LETS MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!
