Shave to Save

Hi everyone! You may already know I have 4 dogs and the eldest, Astro (12), beat cancer against all odds this March. (2 tumors in the spleen and 1 in the lung. He is now spleen-free, missing a quarter of his lungs, and cancer free). It was no small miracle and the best second chance in the world.

In gratitude of my second chance with Astro, I am raising funds to help homeless dogs with similar life-saving surgical needs. I have selected Animal Lovers League (ALL) to be the recipient, Singapore's largest no-kill shelter. ALL is where I adopted Snoopy from, and this is also a way for me to thank them for rescuing her.

I will be shaving my head for your donations. Please open wide your hearts for a cause that really makes the difference between life and death for the most invisible, neglected, and grateful dogs who survive on the periphery.

The hair itself will be donated to Wigs4Kids, a children's charity that provides free wigs for children who have lost their hair involuntarily to medical circumstances. I have been preparing to donate my hair for 7 years (no color, no perms, no layers) and cannot wait to help a kid feel even a little bit better while they go through such tough times. Please know that by sponsoring this fund, you are directly helping a child as well.

Thanks to everyone's interest, the deadline has been extended from August 31st to September 3rd, after which the total raised here will be combined with $600 raised in lieu of birthday gifts at my party in July, and $512 raised from selling my nail polish collection. Some had technical difficulties with online donations, and those donations ($875) will be collected individually in person. Then off with the locks, the hair will be sent to Wigs4Kids, the money to ALL, and pictures, videos, and individual Thank You cards for everyone who contributed to the cause.
