Raising fund for Vietnam Central fishermen after fish death disaster

Hi everyone,

Thank you very much for spending time to look at my campaign.

I create this campaign in order to raise money to support fishermen in my hometown, Thua Thien Hue, a small province in Vietnam. They are suffering from an artificial disaster which results in the death of millions ocean creature near the coast, the main source of their income.

This disaster occurred on early April, in which millions of fish found dead at Vung Ang, a coastal village in Ha Tinh, Vietnam. Soon after that, this deadly disease spread to other nearby coastal provinces like Quang Binh and even Thua Thien Hue, my hometown. In the research to reveal the death of ocean creatures, sea water was detected with very high level of toxic, which leads to the death of living species.

After more than a month of disaster, the sea is now nearly empty, there is nothing to fish and the eco system in this whole coastal area is predicted to be damaged heavily, which can even hardly recover in the next decade. The government even set a ban of aquatic products in central region to prevent people from consuming poisonous food, which had caused some death cases earlier. But there is no need for such thing, since no one dares to eat anything from the sea now.

Even though there is a suspicion that the cause was from Formosa, a Taiwanese steel factory, which discharges its waste directly to Vung Ang sea, the truth of this disaster is yet to be confirmed by the government.

After all, the only loss, the ones who suffers the aftermath of these are the local fishermen of central region of Vietnam. They lost billions vietnamdong (1USD ~ 20,000vnd) and hardly earn anything for living. Many families had to sell their furniture to survive, some of them have to leave their own family to find another way to make money. I am a citizen of Hue, who has done some charity projects in these poor areas of Thua Thien Hue, understand their loss and sympathize with them.

Therefore, i come to this site with the hope that i can find the support from friends all over the world in this urgent need. Anything from you would be a big help for us.

Our plan:

*Open our first support day at Phu Loc commune for 50 fishermen's families including:

- Money (depending on amount raised)

- Clothes and tuition fees for children to prepare for next semester in August.

- Ration and food
