As a Peace Fellow I wish to deliver a workshop on Peace and Conflict Resolution at the the West Africa Center for Peace Foundation (WACPF), which is a non-governmental organization that serves young people ages 14 to 25 years in schools and communities through human rights education, leadership development, and peace building. WACPF is the official Ghana Chapter of PeaceJam Foundation (USA). PeaceJam is an international education program built around Nobel Peace Laureates who work personally with youth to pass on the spirit, skills, and wisdom they embody. The goal of PeaceJam is to create a new generation of leaders who will transform themselves, their communities, and the world.

Funds raised will pay for the cost of travel to Ghana and subsistence whilst in Ghana in order to deliver a workshop and be part of this international education program. Conflict resolution is the subject area to delivered. To carry out any conflict resolution young people must first learn to dismantle, their own armed consciousness because they are children of a culture of violence, and their minds have been armed. What is required is a profound understanding of the new realities created by an increasingly interconnected and interdependent world, and a strong belief in the path of nonviolence. As a peace fellow I wish to share the models of conflict resolution used in Moss Side, Manchester which helped to bring about a 92% reduction in gun and gang crime. Also to inform how we have built social capital in an urban environment.

WACPF do not have a budget for providing stipends or honorariums for workshop presenters; however, they can offer support by making copies of materials or purchase some supplies for a workshop. Therefore any funds raised above what is required for travel and subsistence will be used as a stipend or honorarium for presenting the workshop.
