TSgt. Cory Anderson (Retired), is an Air Force Wounded Warrior (AFW2) born and raised in Grand Forks, ND.Earlier this year in Las Vegas, NV, Cory tried out and qualified for the Air Force Wounded Warrior Team allowing him to compete in the 2016 DoD Wounded Warrior Games at West Point, New York this June.

AFW2 allows Cory the opportunity to participate in structured adaptive sports and reconditioning activities throughout his recovery and transition. Participation in the Warrior Games allows service members and veterans to build a supportive social network, developing relationships with other athletes with similar disabilities, giving them a sense of community and acceptance on their path to recovery. Additionally, the games are an opportunity for wounded, ill and injured service members, veterans, families and caregivers to share common experiences and celebrate their accomplishments in overcoming adversity and thriving.

What is a Wounded Warrior?

The Air Force Wounded Warrior Program (AFW2) is a Congressionally-mandated, federally-funded program that provides personalized care, services and advocacy to seriously or very seriously wounded, ill or injured Total Force recovering service members and their Caregivers and families. AFW2 focuses on specific personal and family needs and includes programs that cover a gamut of situations throughout the recovery process and beyond.

Wounded Warrior Games

The 2016 DoD Warrior Games is an adaptive sports competition for wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans. Approximately 250 athletes will participate in eight sporting events, representing teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy/Coast Guard, Air Force, U.S. Special Operations Command and the British Armed Forces. The DoD Warrior Games highlight the resiliency and warrior spirit of service members, veterans and their families and caregivers. Adaptive sports and athletic reconditioning activities play a fundamental role in the successful recovery and reintegration of our service members and veterans. See below for the Department of Defense Warrior Games web site.

All donations will be used to assist Cory financially while he is away training and competing for the Air Force Wounded Warrior games.Although the training and competition trips are federally-funded, financial assistance is needed for his house-hold bills while he is away, and training equipment while he is home. Please help us support our home grown Wounded Warrior.
