It has been long uphill marathon for Kris, and she continues to amaze us all.

Diagnosed with a inoperable brain AVM in 2008. It continues to be the largest doctors have seen. She has persevered through embolizations, proton radiation therapy, strokes, seizures, time in a wheel chair and rehabilitation. She lost some use on her left side. Incredible as it seems, she still continued to work here and there, whenever she could manage. Due to that, she has been denied disability benefits.

In September, she had a arachnoid hemorrhage. It was a much harder effort working her way back to some independency. She went from a walker, to physical therapy, (all the while, kept her spirits up, thankful of the things she had in her life) and was really looking forward to getting her license back.

Last month, she had another hemorrhage. This one is much bigger (Sept was in one ventricle of the brain, this one is in all four). She is now awake after being in a coma. She can open her eyes, but she can't move anything but her toes. She is hooked up to a breathing tube. Right now, her brain is unable to manage her bodies functions.

She has an angel in her partner Inga. She has been with her every day since she went to Mass General. Her three boys are home. Dalton and Chan help get Kaleb (who is autistic and requires 24 hour care) to school and they are doing their best to keep their optimism. I know Kris is spending some of her energy worrying about the boys. If we could rally together and donate enough so that their needs are met while she and Inga are at the hospital, she could then use that additional energy to focus on her wellness instead of worry. We all know how important that is for our health, and especially for her.

Please share this story to everyone you know, and even those you don't know. I hope we can use the power of the Internet to reach to others that will be inspired by her story. Thank you.

She will be moving to a new facility soon

Update posted by Julie Wallace at 12:07 am

She has made good physical progress. She is also communicating well and eating well. She continues to be confused about where she is and sometimes who we all are. I wonder if it's like being in one of those dreams, when you know you're dreaming, yet your surroundings are a. . . . .

She is back in Maine! She began her rehab a week ago. She is able to answer questions and her movement continues to improve all the time. She doesn't have regular clarity, as her brain has been through so much. She will continue to go through a period of "relearning"

Update posted by Julie Wallace at 12:08 pm

She is working so hard to gain movement back into her body. She currently is able to move toes in both feet, and still on a ventilator. She is in her second month at Mass General. (I'll add more soon)
