SEND Anna to Intern in Japan

For those of you who know me, you have probably heard me talk about teaching, children, or Japanese ministry and the passions I have for them. Well with great excitement I would like announce that I have been accepted to intern with SEND International at a camp in Japan just outside of Tokyo called Okutama Bible Chalet. This opportunity will enable me to combine all three of those passions! I will be serving on staff for two months from June 8-August 2. I will be a camp counselor working with Japanese and missionary children. I have opportunities to help run the summer camps as well as the English camps for the Japanese campers and continue to cultivate ways to teach and engage children. However, I can't do this without you!

First and foremost, I need your prayer. This trip will stretch me in a lot of ways from the support raising to the time in Japan. Japan is a very peaceful country with abundant material things. But they have been very resistant to the gospel. So I am asking your prayer support.

Secondly, I need your financial partnership to get there. This camp is run by SEND International, a missionary organization which has been working among the Japanese for many years. Since the Okutama Bible Chalet is a mission funded camp and works to reach as many children as possible, they charge a minimum for their campers. As a camp counselor on staff, I have to be fully supported as a short-term missionary to serve (plane tickets, room and board, insurance, and SEND office fees) This totals $5,800. This is quite a big sum of money, and honestly when I first saw the amount, my heart sank and I just wanted to drop the whole idea because of it. I doubted that the Lord will provide and was scared to trust Him with all the finances. But in the course of much prayer, the Lord has kept nudging me that this is where He desires me to be this summer. I am taking this step of faith and excited to see this journey unfold, trusting Him with the provisions.

Japan holds a dear place in my heart. I have a desire to see the next generation come to know Christ and then share it with the generations to come there! After seeing my own extended family in Japan come to Christ and serving on leadership this past year in a ministry called Pneuma (which extends the gospel to Japanese college students in the Chicago area) my heart has continued to grow more for the people in Japan.

So I ask you, if you would be interested in partnering with me on this journey to help me serve on staff at the OBC camp in Japan.
