Help my Mom recover

What the funds will go towards:

The 24 hrs a day carers who help my mom with her physio and daily tasks.

The story:

It's really difficult when your parents live in a different city to you. It is quite unnerving not knowing what's happening all the time and even worse when the financial constraints become such a deciding factor on whether someone recovers or not.

About two months ago, my mom couldn't move her legs and they just collapsed beneath her. After being alone at home in this state for a few hours, eventually she got hold of my sister who then called an ambulance. After tests and examinations, the doctor diagnosed her with degeneration of the spine.

"Hello all my Facebook friends and family.just to let you know I am in Greenacres Hospital. was admitted on Tuesday night - spent an horrific day on Tuesday - went to tv lounge and sat on my normal chair and when I wanted to get up I could not move my legs - I struggled for 6 hours to push myself up only to hit the floor after taking 5 steps. Was fetched by ambulance - lumber vertebra has degenerated as result of either wear and tear or an old injury and is pinching nerves - I am having physio and for two days was able to shuffle with a walker - today my legs collapsed again and it was a nightmare getting me in the bed again. Please keep me in your prayers as it really a nightmare being so debilitated. Love to all"

My Dad iscurrently paying for 2 carers to help my mom out as she cannot walk and he is not there in the day to help her. My older sister lives close by and does what she can but also works a full time job. These carers have been at my mom's house for about a month now. They cost about R 300 ($30) per 12 hour shift which my dad is paying - they are needed 24 hrs a day. They help with washing hair, general hygiene (my mom cannot stand for long at this point), her exercises (there is a physio who comes over almost every day) and meals. My mom is in incredible pain constantly, muscles often spasming and the thought of having to pay R 4200 (+-$420) a week to have some one help her with basic tasks is unsettling.

Please help my family with some funds to get these carers to help my mom. I am living about 8 hours drive away so it would also be great for me to know that their are people around 24/7 to help my mom out. She is a wonderful lady with a big heart and all I want for her is to get better...before Christmas hopefully!
