Campaign Story
Meet Ellie...
Ellie found her way to my gate in Bulgaria in September, unloved and hungry. She had been dumped in the mountains above our village but somehow survived travelling along a main road, hunger and danger to make her way down the mountain, through the village to my street.
She is not a typical street dog; she has been someone's pet and although nervous, she was more excited by my kind hand than the food I took out to her. Within a few days it was obvious she was not lost and that an owner would not be turning up for her. She has no skills to survive a semi-feral life as many do here - she was confused and lonely but very pleased to see me every time I appeared, food or no food!
With neighbours throwing stones and cursing the arrival of an 'unwanted' dog in their neighbourhood, it soon became apparent that it would only be a matter of days before poison would be put down, not only endangering her but also the many other pets and animals here. A very kind friend gave her space in her 'foster' dog pound with two others who are also looking for homes, on the condition that I supplied food and vet treatments as well as find a new place for her as soon as possible. In the two months that I have known her, Ellie has been so well behaved both on and off the lead, with no signs of aggression or any sort of bad behaviour. She's great with the other dogs and has learnt how to play and have fun!
To help with rehoming, I have had her spayed, passported, microchipped and vaccinated, and two more friends have arranged a UK foster home and the transport to get there. However, the bills are mounting up and the transport alone is over £200. She is already booked to go and will become a loving, loyal pet to someone, but I desperately need assistance with these bills.
With your help, Ellie - who is estimated to be less than a year old and has a German Shepherd appearance but half the size - could not only travel to UK before Christmas but also find her special people in time for the holidays.
Please, I ask you, give this loving, obedient dog the best chance of a new life any dog could have, and a home she so justly deserves.
Thank you!
P.s. If in the unlikely even that this campaign is over funded, the extra money will be used to help the other foster dogs in my friend's care.

This op was performed. . . . .

On Her Way... But The Campaign Is Not Over!
Update posted by Helen Burrows at 01:51 pmSo, despite not having the full amount to cover all expenses, I couldn't turn down the offer of transport from Bulgaria to UK with a charity foster home to take Ellie in Manchester. Chances for such offers are few and far between so it would have been awful to turn. . . . .
