Campaign Story
My story starts before my own diagnosis. My daughter was two years old when she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ependymoma brain cancer in Aug 2010. Ava was a strong, stubborn, compassionate young girl. She was had 3 tumors removed and two removed from her spine. She battled 22 months before she received her wings in May 2012. She was a beautiful brave girl that lived her short life to the fullest.
Ava taught my husband and I a lot about life and how strong you can be. She taught me to enjoy every moment you have because you never really know how long you have. Our life became devoted to support pediatric cancer research. Donations and cancer support walks became our focus. We know have a two year old son who is sweet and healthy, other than his asthma.
On October 1st, 2015 I never though I'd here the words you have cancer. I was diagnosed with Stage 2, HER2 positive, invasive ductal carcinoma. The treatment includes four drugs given every third week until April, followed by double mastectomy. I will need to continue a biological drug for a year.
A new journey will begin for my family, unfortunately I cannot do it alone. I plan to work between treatments if possible. The medical bills are adding up fast, and it is a bit scary.
I am blessed to have a loving family and great friends. Thank you all for your prayers and support.
With much love,
Jamie
