Help Refugees in Berlin!

To all those who have made a contribution to my campaign for refugees.
In view of the fact that all the refugees in Karlshorst are entitled to get a reduced monthly ticket for 36 Euros a month (if they do the paperwork) and the difficulty of finding people to organise weekend outings with children I have re-considered. The continuing deaths and suffering of refugees who have not yet reached 'safety' is I think a more worthy use of the money donated. I will therefore donate to organisations rescuing people in the waters of the Mediterranean and convoys delivering basic necessities to those struggling along the Balkan route. Namely MOAS, Sea-Watch International, SOS MEDITERRANEE, Mobile Flüchtlingshilfe and SOSkonvoi. I hope you agree. - Thank you all, once again!

The original aim was to buy 10 monthly public transport tickets for the refugee centre in Berlin Karlshorst. The campaign has been immensely successful - mainly due to my friends in the band BudZillus who got the brilliant idea of calling for donations at the end of their concert . This then sparked off 4 Berlin clubs,
namely : Badehaus Szimpla Musiksalon, SO36, YAAM Berlin and Crack Bellmer- deciding to join in too - and in one weekend raised 725 EUROS!!! (give them a 'like' on their FB pages!) THANK YOU MY FRIENDS! I unashamedly advertise for you - you deserve it! And a BIG thank you to the alternative Berlin party & club scene!! Your generosity does you proud! Respect! So, my friends - as the days grow shorter and darker and Berlin slips into autumn, I have decided to make this an on-going campaign - not just a one-off thing. The bleak area where the refugee centre is, will be getting even bleaker - and colder - so they will be needing to get out even more. The monthly tickets are transferable - so 10 refugees a day - (or 20 a day if each refugee has it for half a day - 600 a month!!) can travel into town. At weekends we can take up to 30 children along - 3 per ticket - free of charge! This would mean that two groups of 30 kids and their parents could go on an outing at the weekends - to a park, to a lake, for a walk in the forest - and I am looking out for events which might be suitable. After their terrible journeys this will give them a chance to get out of the centre and experience some kind of normality. It would be nice if you could consider making a small monthly donation. Das eigentliche Ziel war es, 10 VBB Umweltkarten (Monatskarten) für das Flüchtlingsheim in Karlshorst zu kaufen, doch diese Kampagne ist so erfolgreich geworden - hauptsächlich dank meiner Freunde in der Band BudZillus , die die brilliante Idee hatten, am Ende eines ihrer Konzerte um spenden zu bitten. Und ein RIESEN Dankeschön an die alternative Party- und Club-Szene Berlins!! Eure Großzügigzeit ehrt euch! Respekt! Nun, meine Freunde - da die Tage kürzer und dunkler werden und Berlin in den Herbst gleitet, habe ich beschlossen, daraus eine weiterführende Geschichte zu machen, statt einer einmaligen Nummer. Die trostlose Gegend, in der sich das Flüchtlingsheim befindet, wird noch trostloser werden - und noch kälter - deswegen wird es für die Menschen dort umso notwendiger, da mal rauszukommen. Die Monatstickets sind übertragbar, d.h. 10 Flüchtende pro Tag (oder 20 je einen halben Tag - also 600 Menschen im Monat!!!) können damit in die Stadt fahren. Am Wochenende können bis zu 30 Kinder - 3 Kinder pro Ticket - kostenlos mitfahren! Das würde bedeuten, das zwei Gruppen von bis zu 30 Kindern mit ihren Eltern einen Wochenend-Ausflug machen könnten - in einen Park, an einen See, zu einem Spielplatz - ich werde auch nach geeigneten Veranstaltungen Ausschau halten. Nach allem, was sie durchmachen mußten, hätten sie so die Chance, Berlin für ein paar Stunden zu erkunden und vielleicht so etwas wie ein bißchen "Normalität" zu finden. Wenn ihr dauerhaft dazu beitragen möchtet und vorstellen könntet, monatlich einen kleinen Betrag zu spenden, wäre das wundervoll! (habt ihr kein Paypal und keine Kreditkarte?
