 PLEASE HELP!

Hi,

My name is Shahin and I am one of the students at the Student Lodge, Nottingham.

As you may have heard, at 2pm on Monday 30th March 2015, a fire broke out in one of the student accomodation buildings in Radford, Nottingham. This building was a historical building of great importance to Nottingham and became the home for many students who attend the Universities in the city.

This fire has completely destroyed the building, there are no more rooms or floors left, and as of 23:30 on 01/04/2015 the fire is still ongoing (when I am currently writing this). So bad is the destruction that the building will have to be demolished, and with it people's homes. I have watched the fire grow, spread, and destroy everything.

Every single person who lived in one of the apartments has lost everything; apart from the clothes on their back and whatever change they had in their pockets at the time. Valuable items such as passports, ID, laptops, study materials are all gone. Having spoke to many of the people who lived in the building, the impact that this has had on them is clear to see. Some are not able to visit family members, hand in their dissertations and are worrying at how they will actually survive going forward.

I am lucky enough to live in part of the building that the fire did not spread to and I am extremely grateful for that; but it throws into sharp relief at just how lucky I am. I am therefore setting up this page to ask anyone who is able to, to donate..even if its just £1.

I myself am a student at the University of Nottingham, and I know that I would not want the chance to sucessfully graduate  to be cruelly taken away from me, so I am asking for help. Any money raised will be divided equally to all students who have been affected.

I would also at this point like to say a MASSIVE thank you to all fire services who fought over 3 days to contain the fire and made sure everyone was safe! Anyone who wished to contact me regarding donation of clothes etc please email me on [email protected].

          Thank you
