Dad recovery on-going treatment

Hi everyone! If you can spare a minute to take a look at this video and read what I write,I would greatly appreciate it. My dad had been feeling unwell for quite some time and we (mom, my siblings and I) thought it was the high blood pressure acting up. So we took him to Malaysia for medical checkups. And last Friday, he was admitted to the hospital due to a significant drop in blood counts (Anaemia) and he had blood tansfusion. Then on Sunday night, he had memory loss. He could not recognize my mom, my friends and my sister's friends who went over to visit. By God's grace, on Monday he began to recognize my mom and my friends. His condition was stable after the memory loss but unexpectedly, on Monday midnight he had Cardiac arrest and it was a silent heart attack. He is now still in ICU, unconscious and currently on life support. The doctor told us after removing the sedation, he should regain his consciousness not more than a day. But yet till this very moment (after having sedation removed for almost 4 days), he still has not gained his consciousness. A neurologist has been working on his case for 2 days now and it was good news that my dad does not have stroke (evidence by the MRI scan) but the bad news is that its still uncertain why he isnt awake yet. So further tests were taken and EEG shows that he has epileptic activity in the brain which occurs quite frequently and Lumbar Puncture shows there may be infection or inflammation in his brain. He is currently under treatment for the infection, inflammation and epileptic. But the doctor is still waiting for the result to know what bacteria or virus that may cause him to be like this. My sister asked the doctor "whats the percentage of him getting better?" And he said he is not quite sure yet because he is still gathering information. But he said he had a case like this before and it took his patient 6 weeks to wake up. The doctor also said "he is moving but he is moving involuntarily. He isnt conscious atm" My family is hoping that he would gain his consciousness as soon as possible. Cos it is really heartbreaking to watch out dearest father going through this. Sometimes my sister whisper in his ear and he would turn to her and open his eyes and stare at her. But as the doctor said it is a vacant stare. He isnt focusing and he is not looking. He has tremors now and then. All we can do is pray. We are hoping by the time you finish reading this, you will understand what my family is going through. We are not asking for much but your prayers mean a lot to me and my family. Also, we opened up this project to help us with the medical bills cos it is skyrocketing. Update as per 20.06.2013: Dad is now going to undergo Tracheostomy in order to breath comfortably as he has been on Endotracheal intubation for quite some time. So the doctors worried that dad would caught major infection on his throat. Please pray for him.... God bless 

Updated as per 24.06.2013: Dad is now in HDU ward instead of ICU. He is still under close supervision. Thank God that dad is now able to open his eyes for period of time. He is still not able to recognise and talk to us. Please please please keep him in your prayer so he will recover soon and able to talk and recognise us again. 

UPDATE as per 10.10.2013: It is been so long I have now needed to let you know that dad is now like a normal person but he is experiencing MEMORY LOSS. As we all know, many people experience memory problems after a stroke. In particular, he has a stroke in the right hemisphere of his brain commonly have problems paying attention. He is experiencing verbal, visual, informational and vascular dementia.

 

His verbal memory loss is affecting his memory of names and stories.

 

His visual memory loss is affecting his memory of shapes, faces, etc. There is one time when our uncle visited dad and they had a long chat. But suddenly dad asked my elder brother to give our uncle a call. Actually our uncle is sitting right in front of him. Uncle cellphone is ringing and he picked up his phone. Dad asked “where are you?” Uncle said “I am right in front of you right now. Don’t you remember?” Dad said, “Ahh.. you are not my brother. Who are you?”

 

His informational memory loss is affecting his memory of information and skills or trouble learning new things. And lastly his vascular dementia memory loss is affecting a greater and more general decline in thinking ability.

 

 

Therefore, the cure is not a matter of one specific medication but in fact TIME. He needs time to heal his memory loss.

Hi ! Kalo kamu bisa memberikan semenit untuk melihat video ini dan membaca apa yang saya tulis, saya sangat berterimakasih. Papa sering merasa tidak sehat sejak lama dan kami sekeluarga mengira kalo itu karena darah tinggi papa. Jadi mama membawa papa ke Malaysia untuk pemeriksaan. Jumat (8.6.2013) papa masuk RS utk tambah darah karena darah papa itu kurang (seperti Anemia). Minggu malam tiba tiba papa hilang ingatan. Papa tidak bisa mengenal mama, teman- teman saya dan teman – teman adik saya yang mengunjungi papa. Tetapi karena anugrah Tuhan hari Senin dia mulai mengenal mama dan teman – teman. Kondisi papa stabil setelah itu tetapi tanpa diduga Sening tengah malam papa terkena serangan jantung. Sekarang dia di unit gawat darurat, tidak sadar dan masih memakai alat bantuan. Dokter mengatakan

setelah menghentikan obat bius, papa seharusnya bisa sadar dalam waktu sehari atau dua. Tetapi sampai detik ini (setelah menghentikan obat bius nya lebih dari seminggu) papa masih tidak sadar sadar. Dokter spesialis saraf masih menangani kasus papa dan kabar baik adalah papa tidak terkena stroke (bukti dari MRI) tetapi kabar yang tidak baik adalah masih tidak pasti kenapa papa masih tidak sadar. Test EEG menyatakan papa ada epilepsi di otak dan Pungsi Lumba menyatakan kemungkinan terjadi infeksi dan pembengkakan di otak. Papa sudah di berikan obat buat epilepsy dan pembengkakan nya tetapi papa masih tidak sadar juga.

Yang hanya bisa kami lakukan sekarang adalah berdoa. Kami harap setelah kamu selesai membaca ini kami akan mengerti apa yang keluarga kami lewati. Perkembangan tgl20.06.1013: Papa sekarang sedang menjalanin operasi di leher supaya dimasukkan selang pernafasan karena papa sampai saat ini memakai alat bantu pernafasan dari mulut dan itu sudah lama dan dokter takut akan terjadi infeksi kalau tetap memakai alat bantu pernafasan dari mulut. Tolong terus didoakan ya papa kami.

Perkembangan tgl24.06.2013: Papa sekarang dirawat di kamar HDU (kamar intensif tetapi bukan unit gawat darurat). Papa masih berada di dalam pengawasan dokter. Terimakasih kepada Tuhan karena papa sekarang sudah bisa membuka mata dalam jangka waktu yang lama. Tetapi papa masih belom dapat mengenal dan berbicara kepada kami. Tolong tolong tolonglah terus bawa papa kami didalam doa teman2,sodara2 semua supaya papa bisa cepat pulih dan bisa bicara dan mengenal kami lagi.

Perkembangan per tgl10.10.2013: Setelah sekian lama saya baru bisa memberitahukan bahwa papa sudah seperti orang normal tetapi dia mengalami HILANG INGATAN. Seperti yang kita

ketahui, banyak orang mengalami hilang ingatan setelah terkena stroke. Terutama, papa kena stroke tepat di otak kanan yang dimana bermasalah untuk berkonsentrasi. Papa mengalami kesulitan dalam bahasa, penglihatan, informasi, dan  penurunan fungsi otak.

Gangguan dalam bahasa, papa sulit mengingat nama nama dan cerita cerita.

Gangguan dalam penglihatan, papa sulit mengingat bentuk, wajah, dan sebagainya. Pernah ketika paman kami menjenguk papa, mereka telah berbincang lama. Tetapi tiba tiba papa manggil abang kami untuk minta menelpon paman kami ini. Paman kami ini sedang duduk pas didepan papa. Handphone paman kami berbunyi dan paman kami mengangkat handphone nya. Papa bilang, “kamu dimana?” Paman kami bilang”bang, aku ini sekarang ada di depan abang” Abang ga ingat?. Trus papa bilang, “Ah…kamu bukan adik ku”. Kamu siapa?”

Gangguan informasi yang dialami papa adalah papa sulit menerima informasi baru atau belajar hal hal baru. Dan gangguan terakhir adalah penurunan fungsi otak papa.  

Maka dari itu, untuk penyembuhan total tidaklah dengan satu obat saja tetapi yang pasti adalah WAKTU. Papa butuh waktu yang tidak sebentar untuk pemulihan ingatan nya.
