Campaign Story
Our poor little kitty Geo is only about 6.5 years old, but he has been through a lot in the past couple of weeks, and he is still not out of the woods yet. On 29 January 2013, Geo had surgery to remove a bladder stone that was causing him great distress. The surgery went well, but two days after his stitches were removed on the 12th of February, Geo's wound opened up. By the time we got him to the vet, his organs were hanging out of the wound, his core body temperature had dropped several degrees, and he had lost about 2/3 of his blood. It took two surgeries and two blood transfusions to get him home on the evening of Monday 18 February 2013. When he came home, he was still anemic, having had a bad reaction to one of the transfusions, but otherwise seemed to be in good shape. However, the next morning, things turned south again. Geo is now back in the hospital with a dangerously low total blood count, low body temperature, and high white blood cell count. He needs more tests and possibly more surgeries to fix whatever is causing the anemia.
Geo and Helios (our other cat) are very strongly bonded. While Geo was in the hospital, Helios would walk around the house crying for Geo. We want to save Geo not only because we love Geo so much, but also because we love Helios and he loves Geo so much too.
Any small donation that can help cover the cost of his vet bills will mean we can do more to try to save him. Any donation of $10.00 or more will receive a personalized thank you letter and a picture of Geo. If we somehow go over our goal, any extra funds will be donated to the shelter Geo was adopted from, Safe Haven for Cats in Raleigh, NC.

We are keeping him pinned up so long to ensure he does not get another hernia. Geo is doing well and is not throwing up as much since we switched him. . . . .

Update posted by decemberrainfall at 09:21 pmGeo will be able to get his cone off next Saturday, the 25th. Then we'll keep him in his semi-isolation for about one more week, just to be safe. Between now and then, we are going to modify the house so that he will have to use ramps to get. . . . .
Happy Mother's Day
Update posted by decemberrainfall at 10:42 amThe best gift I could get from my little fur-baby: It has been several days since Geo has thrown up and the incision his belly appears to be healing very well. In about 10 days we will be able to take his cone off after he goes to the vet

Update 4/26
Update posted by decemberrainfall at 06:02 pmGeo is recovering well. He has kept all of his food down and has only had one tummy upset out the other end. Geo has managed to get his cone off several times, which tells me that he has plenty of energy. Thank you for all of you who have
