Campaign Story
GERARDO VINICIO PENAFLOR CARDENAS:
Was born in the week 31.4 of my pregnancy, weighing 1.640kg and 40cm in length.
Her mom has a high risk pregnancy (prior bleeding to the placenta) with my membranes breaking (from the time my waters broke it took 8 days for the actual birth to take place).
Here is a summary:
He was in the Intensive Therapy Unit at the Hospital Real San Jose for 58 days.
A Camera Cephalic Hood was used as he was dependent on the oxygen administered.
He suffered Anemia of Prematurity.
Early neo-natal Sepsis/Infection.
Secondary respiratory distress due to pneumonia and secondary congenital breakdown of membranes.
He had an umbilical arterial catheter.
He had bili/phototherapy treatment for hyperbilirubinemia.
Pulmonary Interstitial Emphysema
They administered antibiotics: Ampicilina y Gentamicina (for the breakdown of the membranes),
Omeprazole, Sildenafil, Aminofilina, Eborix, Nexium and Neupogen.
They have carried out 5 blood transfusions because his anemia level drops to 7.
He suffers from Gastroesophageal reflux disease/heartburn so the medical team carried out a ph monitoring esophageal for 24 hours. In those 24 hours Vinicio had 80 episodes of gastroesphageal reflux which determined that feeding him his mother’s milk should be suspended. Since then he has been feeding on Neocate infant formula.
Must comment that they do not know whether my sons’ illness is Cyclic Neutropenia or congential, Kostmann syndrome or Marrow Hypoplasia.
The fact is Vinicio was born with zero neutrophils, at one point he was responding to the Neupogen (Filgastrin) but he now has more than 4 weeks that the doses have been increasing (they have increased seven-fold) and he’s not responding. His neutrophils count remains zero. TODAY HE HAS 2% OF NEUTROFILOS

Adequate response to (FEC?) completing 14 consecutive days and will change the doses to every 72 hours 30mcg sc/72. DESPUÈS DE ESTE. . . . .

SE OBSERVO LEVE MEJORÌA CON EL USO DE FEC, POR LO QUE CONSIDERO QUE AUNQUE LA RESPUESTA HA SIDO POBRE, DEBEMOS CONTINUAR CON LA MISMA DOSIS DE 30 MCGS SC/24
