Wedded Bliss

Wedded Bliss is a personal project to help me raise money to pay for the remaining costs of my wedding and if this goes well I will continue to collect money and give it to other couples, gay and straight, who want to get married but don't have a way to pay for all or some of there wedding.

Hi my name is La Tin Dey. I don't have some sob story to tell you. No one has some life ending disease with 4 months to live. I'm just trying to finish paying for my wedding.

I met Octavia, my soon to be wife, in 2005 and from the moment we saw each other, we knew we belonged together. I've always dreamed of getting married but with being gay, I just assumed it would never happen. As a sign of commitment, Octavia proposed to me in 2007 and said one day hopefully we will actually be able to get legally married. Since then we have some serious ups and downs. In 2008 I was sexually assualted and as result, I now have a beautiful 4 year old girl. We also had to move from our home at this time because it was destroyed by Hurricane Ike. 2009 are daughter was born and from there up until early 2011, life seemed to be improving and we decided to start planning a wedding (since we could get a marriage license from Washington DC). Well once we started wedding planning, it seemed like everything that could go wrong did. Octavia lost her job (and is still struggling to find one), the car we had blew up (literally), and we had to move in with her parents because the rent we had was to high for one person to pay alone. Needless to say, all our wedding fund money became our need to survive money. I pushed the date back from 08/19/12 to 07/28/13 thinking that within the timeframe, life would improve and the wedding would happen as planned but as you can see since I'm holding a fundraiser that life hasn't improved too much. So far I have been able to give deposits to all the vendors and the reception hall, I have already purchased my wedding dress as well as my daughter's jr bride dress ( she calls it her wedding dress and she thinks she's getting married also), and purchased the invitations. And I can't push the date back again because I will lose all the money I have invested in the wedding so far.

I found this website about 3 months ago but being a proud a person just couldn't force myself to raise funds for myself. However, I did some soul searching and decided that the only way I would do this is if after I raise the money for my wedding, I continue to raise money and give it to others like myself and Octavia. Couples that love each other, want to have a wedding, but because of certain situations can't afford it. I believe everyone, including myself, should have a chance at making their dreams come true and if I can help and get others to help then life should be filled with blessings. 

If I reach 80% or more of my goal, then I will keep the Wedded Bliss project open and make ways to reach other couples and help them just like someone helped me, because if you do donate you will be helping me and Octavia and our daughter (because at this point this wedding has become something we all want to happen). Now I figured out that if I can get 500 people to donate a minimum of $10 then I will reach my goal. So please share this if you do donate or don't donate but think it's a worthy cause. Also I will give the first 10 people that donate $100 or more a $25 visa gift card ( I know it's not much but at least it's gas money) and I will be sending hand written thank you's with an added surprise to anyone that donates, no matter the amount.
