Campaign Story
Humanitarian Aid to Calais Refugees
We will to be delivering clothing, food, bedding and hygiene items to the people currently living in desperate conditions in Calais. I'll be travelling by car joining the Soin Sans Frontieres convoy where we will to take items directly into the refugee camp where I can personally give them to be distributed and used immediately.
My first trip will be on 29th August. I will return again with a van at the end of September or beginning of October. Money raised will help fund transport and the purchase of supplies, in particular sleeping bags, toiletries, hygiene and first aid kits. Once the van is unloaded we can also use the money to fill up from local supermarkets with extra food. The men, women and children in the camp have very little and are living in appalling conditions which daily risk their health and lives.
The huge recent media coverage has really brought to attention the urgency of the help needed for the 3000 people currently living in and around the area known as 'The Jungle' who are in desperate need of basic essentials such as food, shelter and medical care. These people have already risked their lives to flee war, persecution, poverty, abuse and other horrors and now risk dying trying to make the journey to England (as several have recently died).
Any amount of cash will help and be gratefully received but it would also be great to receive donations of items from the list above which I can take in the van. I will squeeze in whatever I can! I will also be encouraging others to collect and join the convoy from Plymouth at end of September.
Thank you!

Iraq Kurdistan
Update posted by Hayley Kemp at 12:16 pmAs some of you know I have very recently returned from Northern Iraq. Whilst there I visited and distributed aid to refugees in the camps, from Salahuddin province. Human Rights Watch says: "Militia abuses are wreaking havoc among some of Iraq’s most vulnerable people and exacerbating sectarian hostilities." If you

Calais Update October 2015
Update posted by Hayley Kemp at 09:33 amWe have returned from our latest trip to Calais. It got off to a bad start, tunnel closed because migrants 'stormed' the tunnel (hurrah!), punctured tyre on Eurostar. At least this gave us the chance to speak to a French Moroccan Eurostar team manager, sympathetic to people in the camp,. . . . .
