Campaign Story
HIMALAYAN HIGHLIGHTS EXPEDITION 2014
In December this year, Holly Canham and Francesca Webb will return to Nepal's capitol city Kathmandu to continue their work in Belmont International School and Sahara International Helpless Children Home on West Lancashire's Explorer Scouts' Himalayan Highlights Expedition.
This will be our second extraordinary visit to Nepal where we will spend time enriching the children’s lives through:
-teaching Nepali children English and English culture in the local school
-restoration and maintenance of the orphanage building itself
-providing links for better healthcare through HexN (Health Exchange Nepal) who, thanks to our leader Lawrence Cocker, have offered to fund and teach healthcare in the orphanage
-playing with the children, making friends, teaching games, cooking ..
-Donations of toys and books -financial donation to the charity
-(tbc) developing international scouting relations through a camp with local Nepali scouts.
We will also embark on the enormous challenge of summiting Gokyo Ri, a Himalayan mountain over 4000m high which provides astonishing views of the highest point on Earth - Mount Everest's peak. Unfortunately, this amazing expedition of a lifetime does not come for free so both of us must raise £1800 each in order to go on the trip.
We need all the help we can get, please be as generous as you can!
Thank you so much,
Holly Canham and Francesca Webb.
