After 15 years of being clear of an extremely rare brain tumour, last year, Karina and I discovered that it had returned in multiple numbers. We have been together for 15 years and finally in 2014 same sex marriage was made law , so we did it. On our anniversary of getting together . We arranged to have our honeymoon in Scotland and then had to cancel due to the news and the treatment, we had to use all our savings and the honeymoon money to pay for continuous trips to hospital, and for me to have time off work to be with her during the treatment and other small procedures to get her ready for the chemotherapy. We live 50 miles away from the hospital where she is being treated . so it has been financially draining to visit everyday. The last session of chemo , Karina stayed in hospital for nearly two month, because it was huge life threatening dose , but her only chance for survival. There was infections and heart attack scares , confusion due to the drugs and bouts of depression, the road through this last lot was very scary for Karina and all who love her. The treatment now is over and no more can be given it is up to Karinas own body to fight the remaining tumour, at the last check-up the tumour markers had gone down, I would really love to be able to take her on a holiday when she is recovered to make up for the missing honeymoon and also to celebrate the fact that she has beaten it again. Karina is 35 years old and rarely asks for anything, she is kind , loving and has a heart as big as she is, she will help anybody and loves life and loves laughing, she is funny and makes my life a wonderful place. Karina never moans about what she is going through and tries her best to be cheerful and keep smiling, but it is so hard, she knows that I am struggling to manage . I am self employed so help from anywhere is like trying to get blood out of a stone. Please help me to do this, it would mean so much to Karina ,due to the last appeal we were able to go to her sisters wedding and Karina managed nearly the whole day, but the tiredness of all that she has been through caught up and the day was cut short, She did really enjoy the day though. I would love to take her away for a longer holiday later on this summer. We do not know how long we have together so every day is precious.

Even though we were expecting this news . That there is nothing else the docs can do. It was still devastating . We don't know how long . With this tumour doc can't predict. It us just blood tests and marker checks. Until the need for an MRI .

No more chemo now. Got to wait for Karina to strength up for the next step.  Radiotherapy is the last step. This depends on whether Karina wants to take the risk of blindness.  She has got some difficulty questions to ask on the 29th April when we visit the QE

The final push

Update posted by tracey stanway at 02:53 pm

Karina goes into the QE tomorrow for her final chemo and then her stem cells transplant. She is terrified about this one. She knows it is going to make her really ill. It is still only 50 /50 that it will destroy the tumours completely but there is no other
