Ryan’s Alaskan Adventure

About the Trip:  On the Northern Expedition, a group of about 40 students from different areas of the country will be traveling with the People to People Student Ambassador program to Alaska by plane for an 11-day trip to learn about Alaska’s history and visit towns, points of interest, and open ground parks. Some of the trip’s features include Denali National Park, a wilderness expedition, an Iditarod sled dog training facility, the Native Heritage Center, a salmon hatchery, a glacier hike, and panning for real gold! The tuition and insurance total for the trip is a little over $5000. I am hoping to raise at least $3000 of that through fundraising by April 30th (the trip is in June). Tuition includes all airfare, travel, accommodations, teacher supervision, food, taxes, and gratuities.   About Me:  I am in the 6th grade, in the Gifted-Talented program, and take advanced academics. My favorite classes are science and band. I play trumpet, played soccer for about 3 years (my team placed in the Wylie cup tournament!), enjoy paintball, and have gone camping many times. I like building things, whether online with Minecraft, or with Lego architecture sets, circuit board kids, and even sand. I have never been on an airplane before so this trip will be my first time in the air. Also, my birthday is on the same day we are scheduled to return so this will be a birthday memory I would never forget.  I think People to People will help boost my confidence and give me a chance to experience new opportunities and a different style of living.  People to People is an amazing program that gives people a different view of the world through travel to unique places, which I would love to experience and enjoy.
