Learn To Be at UT Dallas is a non-profit organization focused on the principle of providing students in K-8th grade in underserved areas with online tutoring and other academic resources. We believe that college students can make a difference in the lives of these younger students by volunteering as certified tutors. By allowing college students to serve the community using the World Wide Web as a major medium, we seek to promote the principles of education, service, and leadership while helping bridge the gap in education.
In addition to our online activity, we establish programs that are exclusive to our chapter, such as local elementary school tutoring/mentoring, fundraising events, and social activities for our tutors. All of our donations are used for providing extra resources to the students, transportation, social events, and anything used to keep an active community of non-paid tutors well-established.
Though relatively new, Learn To Be is a national organization with active chapters at different college campuses throughout the country, including Harvard, Cornell, UCLA, Texas A&M, UT Austin, and more.
Our goal is to raise enough funds to provide education-related and social organizational activities and more technologically advanced materials for our tutors to communicate with their students.
Our website can be accessed at http://www.learntobeutd.org. Your donation is greatly appreciated!
