Earthquake Relief Operations – Bohol, Philippines

In the morning of October 15, 2013 at around 8:15am a very strong earthquake hit the Central Visayas Region of the Philippines destroying houses, schools, hospitals, churches, roads, bridges and other infrastructures. To the time of this writing, roads and bridges leading to towns from the City of Tagbilaran are impassable and help can only get there through the sea using motorized boats.

My mother, Rainera Lucero, with years of social development experience started a local fund raising campaign to extend help to areas that the authorities will have a hard time getting their relief delivered. In these towns, hospitals are treating patients under the trees and even using banana sheaths and bamboo slats as braces to fractured victims due to lack of medical supplies. People are getting very thirsty by the minute as there are no good drinkable water source. Food has been also one of the big problems.
