Campaign Story
Kokoda 2015 is a pilgrimage for both physically and psychologically wounded soldiers to trek through the infamous Kokoda Track in Papa New Guinea. This conincides with the 100 year anniversary of the ANZACs and we will be at a special dawn service held at the Isurava memorial on Anzac day.
As a person that was raised in a military family I have an understanding of the after effects of military service and have great respect for those that choose to protect our countries. Some of the sacrifices they make go on long after their service has finished. I will be walking this trek in support of them and in memory of my father who was a Squadron Leader in the NZRAF.
Over the last six months the support crew have trained, raised money for the support charity, raised the funds needed to send the wounded and individually have had the task to raise $5000 for themselves to participate in this once in a lifetime oppourtunity. Its an honour to be invited on this trek to not only assist these soldiers but to walk beside the ex serviceman to show appreciation of their sacrifice and their journeys. I'm over halfway towards meeting my fundraising target of $5000.
