About this project:
Building a community takes a community and we need your help marketing our dream project to the masses! We are going to use the funds collected in this fundraiser for:
- Designing and launching a website
- Membership at Bar Harbor & Southwest Harbor Chamber of Commerce
- Gold membership at Vacation Rentals By Owner and AirBnB (which is free we just want to assure you we're taking advantage of it)
- Street sign created by local artist
- Marketing materials such as business cards, stationary, stickers, car magnets, etc
Acadia Yurts is completely unique for this area and targets people looking to be comfortably close to nature. We're raising a space with the proximity of camping but the luxurious amenities of home - kitchen, plumbing, electricity, heat, and a comfortable bed too :-) We want you to love our home as much as we do. Come explore!
Risks and challenges:
The largest obstacle we face is what we need your help with: letting people know we exist. We've told countless people about our offerings and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive that it is perfect for this area. We are confident people will love Acadia Yurts once they experience it. Great marketing can make or break a company and the way we see it, success is the only option! Please consider partnering with us to get the word out!!!
About us:
About Aaron:
Aaron was born and raised in Maine and has a deep appreciation for Mount Desert Island. He brings 17 years of local hospitality and management experience from working in Bar Harbor. During a winter long work trade in Maui, Aaron was introduced to a deeper understanding of oneself, communication and community. He is hoping to bring the lessons he learned in Maui back to Maine, and plant those seeds with Acadia Yurts. To Aaron, Acadia Yurts will not just be a retreat, but a thriving community.
About Karen:
Karen has been very fortunate to travel a fair amount but says with absolute conviction that regardless of where she's been she's always excited to return to Maine, it feels like home. In Maine she enjoys all the outdoor activities she enjoys with a beautiful backdrop! For the past 3 years Karen has been teaching yoga on the beaches and mountain tops around Acadia and she feeds off the energy of sharing Acadia with outdoor enthusiasts like herself! Karen is presently enrolled in Acadia School of Massage and upon graduatation in April 2015 she's excited to offer body work as an additional way to get in touch with the body. Her goal, through everything that she's done in the past and will do in the future, is to give people an opportunity to realize their greatest potential and feel more empowered to do what makes them happy.
Karen and Aaron have both worked in the hospitality industry in Bar Harbor and through that they've investigated why people return to Acadia year after year- universally people come to slow down and reconnect. They want to connect to nature, their loved ones, and themselves. Acadia Yurts seeks to offer all the life enthusiasts a comfortable place to stay that keeps them close to nature.
Acadia Yurts will blossom grass roots style but in the years they look forward to offering yoga, massage, isolation (float) tanks, sauna, hot tub, community dining, vegetable and flower gardens, chicken husbandry, and much more. Karen and Aaron look forward to sharing their favorite place with like minded people! Find them presently on Facebook (Acadia Yurts) and with your help we'll create rental profiles on VRBO.com, acadiarentals.com, and AirBnB.com together. Your help will also support an Acadia Yurts website full of pictures, availability calendar with booking information, and activities offered by local super heroes!
