Impact Vlad’s & Ukraine’s Future – Help Fund his CIU Education

I'm writing on behalf of Vladyslav Hruntkovskyy, an 18 year old international exchange student from Ukraine, that we have been hosting the last two years. Vlad has been attending Carmel Christian School in Charlotte, North Carolina with our two youngest children while completing his Junior and Senior years in high school. Vlad graduated this Spring with an ‘A’ average and excited to make a difference with the people he meets as well as in his home country.

As you may have seen in the news over the last 18 months, Ukraine and Eastern Ukraine most recently has been suffering through civil unrest and war over Russia’s illegal claim of Crimea in March of 2014. This is a troubling and unsettling time for Vlad and his family that lives in central Ukraine. Attending school in the United States at Carmel Christian has been a huge blessing to Vlad and his family.

Vlad greatly desires to stay in the U.S. to study in college and pursue a degree in the College of Intercultural Studies, Global Business Development Program at CIU. Vlad has a passion and a heart to make a difference in his country, but the reality is that the Ukrainian higher education system is academically average and corrupt with bribery. He feels strongly about obtaining the best education he can so he can return to Ukraine after graduation and work for Ukrainian peace and stability throughout the country.

Vlad’s father is one of several pastors at Irpin Bible Church(Stanislav Hruntkovskyy - Irpin Bible Church) near Kiev in Ukraine. In addition, he serves the Ukrainian Baptist Union as the Head of the Family Ministry Department. Through this position, he ministers, teaches, and supports the sanctity of family throughout Ukraine.

Vlad has been diligently applying for and receiving academic scholarships and grants from several schools in the Southeast part of the United States of America. Unfortunately, Vlad’s family has limited means to provide additional support for his higher education. As a result, we are examining all means to provide support for Vlad to attend college in the U.S.

We are reaching out to you today to see if you would consider providing a one time or yearly financial gift to make Vlad’s college education a reality starting this Fall. Vlad has applied and been accepted into Columbia International University(CIU) and several other universities. Vlad’s top choice is CIU where he has earned 5 scholarships and grants totaling $14,500. Full year tuition is $28,000 including room and board. Cindy and I along with several donors have committed to pay room and board($7500/yr) provided other donors can raise the difference of $6000 per year.

Vlad earned $2500 of his yearly scholarship by telling “His Story”(through video) on how how he would use his degree from CIU to impact the workplace. Vlad’s mission aligns with CIU’s purpose to educate people from a biblical worldview to impact the nations with the message of Christ. CIU graduates enter the workforce to be salt and light in their chosen professions. Vlad would like to be ‘salt and light’ to Ukraine and is very focused on excelling in his studies. Your gift would make a positive impact on his and Ukraine’s future. We appreciate your consideration of our request and understand that this may not be feasible for everyone. Cindy and I pray that doors continue to open for Vlad and his college education will be possible. Я пишу від імені Владислава Груниковського, 18-ти річного студента з України якого ми приймали у нашій домівці останні 2 роки. Влад відвідував Carmel Christian School, у місті Шарлотт, північна Кароліна, разом з двома нашими молодшими синами. За цей період він закінчив 11-й та 12-й клас. Влад випустився зі школи цієї весни з середнім балом "A" і він з нетерпінням очікує можливості допомогти людям яких він зустріне як у США, так і вдома в Україні.

Як ви могли чути, останні 18 місяців Україна переживає громадянський конфлікт, а також війну з Росією через те, що остання нелегально приєднала до себе Крим у березні 2014-го року, а також фінансує та допомагає бойовикам у Східній частині України. Це дуже неспокійний і проблемний час особисто для Влада та його сім'ї, які живуть у центральній Україні.

Саме тому можливість навчатися в Carmel Christian School у Сполучених штатах Америки була величезним благословінням для Влада та його сім'ї. Влад дуже хоче залишитися у США для того, щоб навчатися у коледжі та отримати диплом у сфері Міжкультурних Досліджень, Глобальна Програма Розвитку Бізнесу у Колумбійському Інтернаціональному Університеті.

Влад має пристрасть та щире серце до того, аби змінити щось у нього в країні, але нажаль Україна має корумповану систему освіти, а також якість самої системи залишає бажати кращого. Влад глибоко переконаний, що він має отримати найкращу освіту для того, щоб після закінчення навчання повернутися в Україну і працювати над миром та стабільністю в Україні.

Владовий тато служить й як один з пасторів Ірпінської біблійної церкви у місті Ірпінь, неподалік від Києва. Також він працює у ВСЦ ЄХБ (Всеукраїнський Союз Церков Євангельских Християн Баптистів)України як голова відділу сімейного служіння. Через цю позицію він служить, вчить, а також підтримує єдиність та святість інституту сім'ї по всій Україні.

Влад старанно подавав документи на різні стипендії та гранти і як результат отримав декілька стипендій та грантів з різних університетів на південному сході Сполучених штатів Америки.

Нажаль, Владова сім'я має обмежені ресурси і не в змозі покрити додаткові витрати з якими пов'язане отримання вищої освіти. Через це ми вирішили допомогти Владу знайти ресурси для того, щоб навчатися у Сполучених штатах Америки, різними шляхами. Ми стукаємося до вас для того, щоб просити про одноразову, або щорічну фінансову допомогу, аби мрія Влада про навчання у коледжі у США могла стати реальністю вже цієї осені. Влад подавав документи та був прийнятий у Колумбійський інтернаціональний університет, а також декілька інших університетів. Його вибір впав саме на Колумбійський інтернаціональний університет, де він отримав 5 стипендій та грантів, загалом у розмірі 14,500$. Повна вартість навчання сягає 28,000$, включно з проживанням та харчуванням. Сінді та я разом з декількома спонсорами домовилися покрити його харчування та проживання яке сягає 7,500$ у рік. Влад заробив частину грошей (2,500$ у рік) тим, що розказав історію про те, як він збирається використати освіту отриману у КІУ для того, щоб впливати на людей на його робочому місці. Владова місія збігається з метою КІУ навчати людей з біблійної точки зору, щоб ті могли впливати на народи новиною про Христа. Випускники КІУ хочуть бути сіллю та світлом на їхніх робочих місцях у своїх професіях. Влад хоче бути сіллю та світлом для України і він дуже сфокусований на тому, щоб закінчити навчання з відзнакою.
